Lets see if I can ack this question without it sounding like a tongue twister. Is the skidsteer quick attach welded to a PT quick attach plate so it can be removed or did you modify your PT to the skid steer system?

Looks llike it has the PT quick attach plate welded to it. If so, pretty slick. Best of both worlds.

Sorry to take so long to respond...been away for Xmas.
The PT receiver plate is welded to the male skid steer attach plate. That way, obviously I can go skid steer attachments or PT

Thats the way I was hoping you had built it. I was thinking of trying the same thing. I assume the male plate has it's own locking mechanism. Where is the best place to find one that will weld up to the PT quick attach? Thanks.

My cost was about $650 PLUS the pt attach plate. I used a blank "ATI tach-all" and welded the PT plate to it. Works great!

We have a front plate from a New Holland skid steer that we retrofitted to another machine that we no longer need. It is the "male" plate with the spring levers to allow it to attach to any skid steer tool. It could be fairly easily put on the front of a larger PT and would allow skid steer tools to be used. If there is any interest in this plate contact me and I can provide more details. (I think that we gave about $400 for it when we purchased it from New Holland, but I can research that)

That looks like an articulated unit, not a skid steer. What model is it?

The photo shows a Coyote loader that we tried to use. We put the skid steer mounting plate on it as the photo shows. We were completely misled by the Coyote people in Ohio, however, concerning some of the equipment on the unit and we had to move to another type of unit. We now use a "Swinger" loader to install wood posts

I had a problem seeing your attachment, but looked at the Swinger on the web. Do you use yours with a post pounder for the wooden posts? I've been thinking about a Power-Trac pounder for my PT1845 for quite a while, but my fencing needs are always just short of making it rational.

We use a Kiwi post pounder on the front of the Swinger. Sorry, the photo file was too large and it won't display. You can see the Swinger at our web site: www.ffcfencing.com if you like. The Kiwi Post driver is an expensive item but it is the ultimate in post installers. It will drive a RR tie into dry clay. We probably drive 8 -10 thousand posts per year with it and we have been using it for 9 years with little or no major repair expense. I have used other post drivers... Shaver makes a decent light duty unit for non commercial use. We used many of those in years past. They simply did not hold up to our type of use.

I think the Power Trac Driver is comparable to the Shaver, but maybe a bit beefier. I certainly can't justify anything more expensive, since I seldom do more than fence repair. I just like the idea of a pounder.
I saw one in Wyoming on a Cat track hoe that used a heavy weight and vibration rather than traditional lifting and dropping the weight. I don't remember the manufacturer. The owner used it on hillsides that I wouldn't take my Power Trac. He said the vibrator split a lot fewer posts than the pile driver. Which type is the Kiwi driver?

The Kiwi is a pile driver type driver. The important thing on this type of driver is the amount of impact that the driver hits with. The Kiwi hits with well ovber 100,000 pound of impact. This impact is derived from the following: While the hydraulic cylinder raises the large I-beam driver, it is also extending two large and heavy springs. When the oil is released from the one way cylinder, the springs throw that 1000 lb piece of iron down to the post at a very fast rate. The driver very seldom splits posts. It is not good, however for driving small light posts, They will normally just sort of explode. We usually drive 5" or 6" diameter southern yellow pine posts. These posts are very dense and straight. They will weigh around 80 lbs each.
