Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Siping vs. Grooving in R4's - Wet snow

/ Siping vs. Grooving in R4's - Wet snow #11
I've read thru this LONG thread, no one speaks (that I saw, coulda missed it) of grooving or siping as to which works best in wet snow. It seems to me most folks only groove, not much on siping.

Siping is more for wet traction and a little bit for ice. For ice you really want some kinda studs. That is if your driveway can deal with studs or chains. There are those screw in stud like things that you could use for ice but they'd play real havoc with an asphalt drive.

I like tire studs! Snowmobile groomers use them and they just screw in and out when not needed. They do have carbide tips but we just use steel and the price is cheap considering the alternatives and people all seem to like them!
