Can anyone explain how the shuttle shift mechanism works inside the transmission. Something has failed in mine. The linkage and cable seem OK, but it was dark. All the diagrams I can find are for the standard transmission. I would like to know what to look for before I open it up.

Thanks

There is no forward or reverse and the handle move way to easy. I could see that the cable was working. The arm was also moving but I could not tell if it was slipping on the shaft going into the transmission or not. It was night and cold. My fist step is to determine if that is broken or not. If not then I am curious how it then works internally as all the parts diagrams I have seen are not appropriate. So your first inclination is that the lever is not moving the shaft that goes into the transmission (presumedly to move a fork of some sort)?

Thanks

That is correct, there is a shift fork that moves back and forth from forward to reverse, the roll pin that goes in the shift lever is broken and will need to be replaced, when we replace them we put a double in one inside the other to make it stronger. If you look on my website under Parts center, Jinma 200, shuttle shift you will see a pic of the parts and the shift plate with fork.

Sometimes it hard to see with good light......... at least for me.

Look at section 3 here .......... http://ranchhandsupply.com/techstuffus/254le354ledrivetrain.html

Picture 2 shows the lever with the floor board removed. Be sure the lever has a good hole for the new roll pin .... may need a new one ?? There is a small spacer and O ring behind that lever. Don't loose the spacer.

Let us know what you find.

Yup, the roll pin where the lever meets the shaft, external. It came apart easy. I used vise grip to operate it so I could get it inside out of the show. I picked up some roll pins so I should be up and running tomorrow.

Thanks.

Same thing happened to mine. It was harder to get at than I thought it would be, I ended up removing the floorboard to get access.

I keep a nail in my tool box...has saved me when the roll pin broke, I inserted a nail there, able to shift till I got the roll pin in.

Another thing. Tractor supply or ace wont have that roll pin. Niether will Kabota. Its a wierd size, so if you get the Jinma part get a few of them....

Is there any place where it is posted HOW TO ADJUST the shuttle shift? Jinma 224.
