Shutter plate

on my 2012 Kubota B2620 under the battery is a "shutter plate".

This is what the Kubota manual calls it.

Any idea what its for or what it is supposed to do?

I am thinking it has something to do with keeping exhaust heat away from bottom of battery. (rad overflow protects the side)

My guess is it's to be sure the intake air flows through the screen.

I think it is to direct the airflow through the rad screen so it doesn't suck unfiltered air into the radiator.

When cleaning area in front of radiator( ie..hosing off), pull the shutter forward and it allows debri to fall clear.

boakley - The shutter plate on my 2003 B7500 collects a lot of debris that would otherwise find its way to the radiator fins. I pull the shutter plate and remove the debris when I clean the front grille, radiator screen and radiator fins. The debris collects on the underside of the shutter plate.
