While using my 990 for some cutting this weekedn, I would get a slight shudder in the steering wheel when making sharper/90 degree turns. I didn't think until now, sitting at work, to check my fluid levels---could being low on power steering fluid account for this shudder?

Thanks.

Were you turning the wheel fairly quickly? The steering mechanism on my 990 also shudders if you turn the wheel too fast. Turn it a bit slower and it's OK. Also, if you rev the engine up it gets better than when idling, so I suspect it's just a matter of the steering pump being unable to keep up with the fluid demand when spinning the wheel fast. I doubt there is anything wrong, at least in my case.

Mine does the same thing. It is a bit less noticable if you run in 2WD.

Thanks for the responses. In fact I was doing alot of 270 degree turns, cutting a smaller area that usually gets mowed with my ZTR, which I had let get too long over the past month.

Thanks again.
