FYI, Bought in Maryland, 03/15/05

BX23 and 5’ Bush Hog rear blade.

Tractor has: loaded rear tires, high capacity alternator, 4 work lights, welded front weight bracket, three suitcase weights, 2 chain hooks welded on bucket, tooth bar (bolt on), and all fluids and filters for 50 hour maintenance. All installed and delivered. $17,055.16 plus $849.76 tax.

Dealer quoted about $1000 less on basic tractor ($14,850 vs. $15,867) in first e-mail contact, but backed out later. I was not happy but other dealer in my area (closer than this one) was higher and not very helpful. I must say the dealer has spent a lot of time with me both before and after the sale.

Hi guys,
I haven't posted in a while. I changed jobs and have been very busy.

I have to agree with GSXR and several others on there opinion of the dealers in the northeast. I will only do business with Emerich Sales.

They are a family owned and run power equipment dealer. Jim (manager) and Kevin (owner) as well as Kevin's mom are there every day. Every one else on there staff are excellent also. I stop in there quite often and I see Jim and Kevin more like friends than sales people.

I have received great deals and service on the many items I have purchased there. BX 23, Box Scraper, Posthole digger, toothbar, Wheelhorse tractor, echo trimmer, echo blower, toro snow thrower, 13 HP Little giant blower and a few other items.

I have priced service items for my equipment Manuals, filters, lubricants etc. on the internet. Emerichs prices are with in a few cents higher or lower than mail order pricing. Plus every time I have bought service items there i have been able to speak a legnth to there mechanics, Who are more than willing to let you pick there brains.

If you are within a few hundred miles It is worth the trip or at least a call to check them out. I just spoke to Jim and Kevin the other day and there spring orders are arriving daily. I going up soon to get a tiller for my BX.

Attached is a copy of there spring mailing. There are no Kubota prices listed but I know for a fact that Jim is in the mood to sell some Kubotas. So give him a call.

Glad to see your back. I also have rescued a pit from the PBRC. He's a great little dog.

Between Work, School, The House, and Dogs. It has cut into my TBN time lately. My wife and I are members of Out of the Pits. I use the links for PBRC because they are very informative and all Pitbull rescue orgs. help each other out. My wife spends a good deal of her free time working for OOTP. I end up doing a lot of roadtrips transporting dogs to there new homes. Heartbreaking work.

Rescue work isn't easy some times you want to cry, other times I really have to hold my temper. I have more than once wanted to beat some miserable excuses for humans to within an inch of there lives. My wife often jokes that I bought the backhoe so I could bury pitbull abusers. No I don't do things like that, But a little piece of me wishes I could.

Not to further hijack this thread but I think it is great that there is a place that will take in and take care of all those big cats. Being more of a cat owner than dog owner I find the big cat's fascinating. I also totally understand Briguy's attitude towards people who abuse dogs - having rescued a number of cats that were abused or abandoned I have seen how many people treat animals and it isn't pretty. I have friends that have a pit bull and while I think he is not the smartest dog in the world /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif - he is also extremely friendly and I have never seen him act aggresively at all. They have small children and he is great with them. There was a thread here on tractorbynet a week or two ago about somebody who used their tractor to rescue a mother cow that was stuck out in some brush - I also remember a thread quite a while back from a woman who was using her tractor to help an older horse that had trouble getting up after it had sat down. These are the kinds of stories that put a smile on my face because I know there are people out there who care. They are also good examples of how a tractor makes a real difference - what would have happened to that cow if there was no tractor? - would that woman be able to help that horse in the way she does if she did not have a tractor?

I have the same problem. Every time I show interest in an Item Jim or Kevin make me an offer I can't refuse. You should see the awsome Toro bar stools I got just before the holidays.

Every time I go up there My wife always asks "What did you buy now???"

OK, let me hammer the final nail in this thread. Here we are exactly 2 weeks since I first posted and my new BX23 is sitting in the driveway, just delivered today. Bought it at Lashley's Kubota Barn in St. Clairsville, OH. Excellent people to deal with, like visiting with old friends. I can't imagine how many dealers I drive past to get there, but I wouldn't go anywhere else. I attached a picture of it sitting in the driveway, along with my 3 boys climbing all over it. You know how it is with new toys. We took this picture to show Mom the kinds of things we boys do when she is not home. She wasn't amused. (We'll be doing more!) Thanks everyone for your help over the past 2 weeks. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

BRIGUY,
Yes, I should have pointed out that the tractor was not running, parking brake was on, and my son sitting ON the tractor was not operating it. We certainly didn't drive around that way, although we didn't tell Mom that. "No child or animal was harmed during the taking of that picture!" I don't know what it is about kids and loader buckets but they just can't resist. Besides, after they got done sliding in and out of it a couple of times, they had all the dirt cleaned off of it.

Last Year I posted a thread about lifting my wife in the FEL to wash windows on the front of our house (Cathedral ceiling). A couple of people busted my stones about it.

I'm sorry I busted you about it.

Have fun

You realize you're going to have to hide the key for that BX, cause those boys are gonna be hounding you constantly to let them drive it.

My 3 year old daughter didn't like my new tractor when I first got it because it was too big and scary. Within a couple of weeks she changed her tune, and now, every time I take it out to do some work, I have to take her for a ride around the yard before I can get started. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

No problem about the busting. The boys were really excited about "Dad's new tractor!" (as is Dad /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif), so I thought the picture was appropriate. I'll have to remember the disclaimer if I do any more of those.

The boys are pretty good at following rules so it hasn't been a problem with the old tractor. However, the keys get locked up anyway just in case. Actually, their interest has turned to the old tractor. Last night, they said "Now that you have a new one, can we have the old one?", the old one being a 1986 Simplicity Sunstar. I don't think they realize yet that once they are old enough to mow the grass, it is going to be THEIR job. We have a year or two to go yet.
