Shop manuals?

Did a search and sent an email to LS website with no luck. Are shop/service/repair manuals available for LS tractors? Thank you!

I've been wondering the same thing myself and have been meaning to check with my dealer. On the other hand, sometimes these manuals get me into more trouble than if I didn't have one.

I just got one for my R4041EZ. Believe it or not.. it was free. I had the dealership order one from LS. She said that LS did not have a part number for it yet. and to mail her a few dollars for their cost to mail it to me. Which reminds me I still have to do that.. After reading through it I found that if I had paid more than $10.00 for it.. I would have felt ripped off. It isnt as thorough as I think a service manual should be.

I made getting service and parts manuals a requirement of my deal on my R4010. I don't rate the service manual very highly compared to what I'm used to. It has decent drawings but very sketchy on procedures and details. The dealer had problems getting them from LS so they wound up just running me copies of theirs.

My service manual details engine teardown, transmission, hydraulics, power steering, starter and alternator. Not very descriptive. No mention of electrical system.

I wonder what the dealers mechanics are using as reference if it is that incomplete?

Searh the internet for "implement and tractor" or I&T manuals. I like the ones I have for my larger tractors.

I searched some I&T sites and didn;t see anything LS specific.
I wonder if one of the rebadged machines manuals would be close enought o be applicable? Anybody ever looked up close at those machines and compared to their own?

Yeah, no wiring diagrams. That's definitely a weak spot too.

No they arn't any better! I had contacted Montana direct (since you can still do that) and they emailed me the service manual for my R4944, and low and behold it was an LS R4020 manual. So no help there!

For those of us who started out about fifty years ago with military equipment service manuals, it's been a long steady downhill skid.

Since the engine section is half of my manual, I can assume it was copied straight from Mitsubishi. My Mitsubishi built 1996 Cub Cadet had a pretty decent manual, orders of magnitude better than the one for my R4010.

If you could find an IT service manual for the LS it would be great, I have always enjoyed using the IT manuals they really seem to cover most everything. Maybe in a few years lets hope. I also wonder if the dealer shop manuals are so vague man I would hope not, that would be scarry!

Like I said, mine was copied from the dealer's own manual. I think they rely heavily on their one mechanic's abilities and experience.

I had to pay $70 plus shipping for my S3010 manual. It came in a crappy 3-ring binder. I knew that wouldn't last long in the field so I bound it real tight with some thick adjustable binder thing I got at Office Depot:



I think it's more complete than what the rest of you guys have described. Here is the main index:

BUT it also has some chapters added at the back covering the front axle, tranny, hydraulics, and the electrical wiring. It even has a wiring diagram:

I wish the service manual was as thorough as the 680 page parts manual that I have for the R4010. PDF file that is 24mb. I can provide the link to anyone interested. Just PM me...
