Shifting into Low Range

I have a 3054 and often have difficulty putting the tractor in low range. I never have a problem switching into high range.
When switching ranges, I have the tractor out of gear, on level ground, and in neutral on the shuyttle shift. Any suggestions other than to call the dealer?.

What I do-

I leave tractor in gear on the main transmission, tractor stopped, shuttle in safe direction and clutch pushed in. I then barely feather the clutch as I shift. Works every time, no grinding. The shift between hi-lo range is not synchro and the gears need help lining up. An old 4-wheel habit.
