Anybody installed a seat cover over their seat ? My seat is cracked & I hate to buy a new seat. Just don't know what cover to buy.

I put one on a 600 ford but it was just alright ...I would buy a new seat, makes sitting for hours better than a cover.

The seat is ok as far as the foam. It's the vinyl that has cracked allowing water to get in making for a wet rear end. Just looking for a vinyl cover.

I glued vinyl patches on mine using Seal All. I rounded the edges. Been that way for a few years. They even blend in. I got a nice free piece of automotive grade vinyl at an upolstry shop this winter. Applied that to my HD using spray adhesive. Looks factory.

I was thinking something like tramp. Get a piece of vynal or something and either a good epoxy type glue or a chemical that "welds" the patch and the seat togeather.

Consider buying a molded plastic boat seat. that's what I have on mine and it is very comfy. They have snap on cushions, so in the winter you can bring them inside, extending their lifespan.

Tractor seats are way overpriced given the boating alternative.

My wife bought me a cover for my seat which was all cracked and nasty. It's great, has enough padding to cover all the seat cracks and has built-in pockets for cell phone and tools, etc... I'll have to ask her where she got it. She's a wizard at finding stuff on line. I know it cost $28 and is well worth it. It's 2yrs old now, been hosed off a few times but still looks like new.

Hope the cushon is good. Tractor seats are way over priced, if i had more room i would get a suspention seat for my tractor.

You clearly have not bushhogged across a bumpy field in yours yet, you want all the cushon from that hard plastic as you can get. These things will beat you bad and make your back hurt like you have been doing hard labor for 8 hours at the end of a say 4-5 hour stent.

The 336 seat has a front pivot mount and the back of the seat is coil spring mounted, so you bounce around on bumps. With the boat seat and the high back support it's pretty fun :). There are times I do that little kid sound of "WEEeeEEee" while bouncing up and down :p

I wouldn't recommend it if you don't have any springs or suspension below. The benefit of mounting your own seat is you can choose where the pivot ends up, which makes a big difference.

EDIT: Wow, nevermind! It appears I must have either A: had too much money when I bought these seats or B: found an amazing sale, because these boat seats now cost $200! They are comfy, though.

Im thinking you had way to must of found a deal! I think the replacement is $100 or less from Hoye. You can buy a suspention seat from agri-supply for less than $200 i think?

I have hard rubber bumpers on my ym2000. I have been meaning to upgrade to some springs. I have read on here to get old valve springs of some motor, v8 maybe and they should be about perfet height and tension to give when you bounce. Never got round to it.

Well, I found a cover at HD for the riding mowers. Don't know it it will fit or not. They don't have them in stock at this time. They say it's a seasonal item:confused:. They should have them next mo. I found the same seat cover on line but, I,m not sure about the fit So, I'll wait for HD to get some in.I added springs to mine several years ago. I got them from HD. They go on the lawn tractor seats. I hated those rubber bumpers when hoggin the field all day. I'm having the new rear tires installed tomorrow. My old bridgestone tires are cracked real bad. With the loader, grapple new tires I'll have to keep this thing for a while. No way I could ever recoupe the $$ I've put into this thing. Guess I should have traded / upgraded instead of adding the loader & grapple

Why not have just run them, unless they split so bad to let the tube be seen or start buldging, i would run them till they wont hold a tube or slip on the rim. Old farmers ran the old tires on their fords or masseys or jd till they were slick. Your not riding down the highway so cracks are not a big deal. Even if i had a deep one to the inside for the price of tires i would get a boot and put on the inside then tube it.

I would never spend the money on tires just cause mine were "cracked real bad". Like you said you will never get it back. The only difference is that if i was making a living or even side work and i did not want to have a flat in the middle of a job and then have to leave tractor in the field and go get tire fixed.

Did you check with any local upholstery shops??? A couple of years ago.....I had a local shop re-do my lawn tractor seat.......I think it was $45 bucks. Did a good job.....looked nice too!

BTW, I bought a seat at Home Depot for a lawn tractor last year for my YM1700. It was a yellow & green JD seat cover. I tried it on my seat (original I believe) but the seat cover was way too big. I returned it. I decided to splurge and buy a replacement seat from Hoye. I think it was ~$70. It comes with a draim hole in so water doesn't collect on the seat. Well, I wish it didn't. That drain hole has a stiff rubber hose that fits in it and I have to say having that poking you in the rear isn't exactly comfortable. :confused2: I tried to trim the top of it down, but that didn't help much, so I ended up removing it completely. The seat is comfortable now, but it has this hole that goes through, and now the seat foam will get wet if any water were to go through.

I'm going to go shopping for springs. Sounds like a nice, easy, cheap upgrade!

I have volkswagen valve springs on mine. Turned a wooden plug with cap on it to fit in the spring, then glued a piece of 1/8" rubber on the wood to keep from having spring to seat contact.

Got a seat cover for my backhoe at Tractor Supply. Fits like socks on a rooster but better than cracks and a wet butt. Think it was about $16.

Well, the tires had very bad cracks. I didn't want to get out in the woods & have a blow out. I got the tires mounted today & they look great & I don't have to worry about a blow out deep in the woods or, while using it to clean up after the tornados we've had in the area. I have made some $ with the tractor cleaning up downed trees , ect, since adding the grapple. Cost for the tires was around $650.00. Just few more A/C or plumbing jobs & I'll make my $ back.

As for the seat. I added some black silicone to all the cracks. Maybe that will hold until I locate a cover

I was in our local John Deere dealer yesterday to pick up some maintenance items for my John Deere lawn mower. While there, I noticed some lawn mower seat covers. They retail for $27.99. I don't know if they will fit your tractor seat, but they might be worth checking on if you can live with the JD yellow.
