My folks farmed for 50 years and bought quite a few aerial photos, I enjoy looking at them and seeing the progress they made
Just tried looking for pictures on scenic concepts website but they don’t have any pictures from Taylor county Wisconsin, a couple other counties I tried also don’t have any pictures, they are supposed to notify me if they ever start showing pictures from Taylor county.

BTW, if you wanted to hire a drone, and have the pictures printed, it likely would be that much or more. Different if you own the drone, or have a friend with one, but for the to drive out, fly it, and even just send digital files, I would expect to pay $300+
Well, I'm not in the market for an aerial photograph of my property. I know people with drones who would do it though.

It was just odd to me that a complete stranger drove up my long driveway to my house with the picture. Seems like it was quite common back in the day though.

Not apples to apples; but i have considered ordering a 24x36 nice print of my properties survey and hanging it, but i would probably want to have it layered with a aerial too. Ive seen some Old surveys that would look good framed too, stuff from the 1920s ect,

That was pretty common in my area 20-30 years ago. It was always a guy in aviator style sunglasses.
I guess the value in your current sales person is the image being printed (presumably larger than a typical laser printer can print) and framed.
I spend a fair amount of time on Google Earth measuring fields and just looking around. It's kinda fun going through the historical imagery to track changes over the years.

I recently did the Google Earth history as Mr. RjCorazza mentioned.

Amazing how much change in just 40 years (talking circa 1985, which to me seems not that long ago) to today!

Acres of wide open cow grazing pastures, now grown up "woods" and thickets...
This site is interesting because you can do a compare of the years available and slide the bar. Prints are also available and very tempting as I enjoy the history.

Want to be alarmed? Check out your property tax office.

My county has a system with a feature called "eagleview". They have every side of the compass and all buildings available, for public view. You can count the window panes in the pictures.

Historic views available too, on some parcels.

I personally find it, disturbing.

Definitely seems like an antiquated way to make money in this day and age. I wonder if they are still riding the coattails of the last of the low tech Boomers still out there.

Not much different than Google Street view. You can tell Google you do not want your house on street view and they will blur it out.

Years ago there was a picture of my grandmother mowing her yard on the street view. It was decided not to show her because she would have a hard time understanding the how and why it was there

HAHA! Yeah, I could imagine! They catch all kinds of crazy stuff on that street view.

Can you talk these folks down on their asking price ? ANd what do they do with the pictures of properties that aren,t purchased ?
The last one I bought, in 2014, the guy wanted big money for a way to put it on my computer and then do fancy computer things with it.
I countered offered with $50 for what's in your hand.

He balked at first but finally accepted.

That's pretty neat. I didn't know there used to be cattle living where our house is now.

Big difference. Google does not go up or over private property.

Not sure what you mean by up and over private property. I am having a hard time picturing what you are talking about with this eagleview. Post a screenshot.

Anyone can fly over your property any time they want, and photo anything from any angle. Creepy, yeah, but just the world we live in.

These guys selling aerials; the low price makes me wonder, where they commissioned to do other aerial photography, and snapped a few hundred extras, and selling them?

Around here, a really interesting is too look at water levels rise and fall over a 30 year period, lakes go dry, come back, go dry again.

If you have bought your home in the last 5ish years, there is likely a 3d walk through room to room, floating around on the internet somewhere

I actually know of some cases were people brought in mobile homes deep into wooded properties and set them up without any permits, hoping they would be undetected. Authorities can dig deep and find out the exact day they were moved into their location, and access huge fines to the guilty parties. Days of being able to get away with this kind of stuff have dis-appeared. The eye in the sky will eventually catch up to the guilty parties. With all the modern tech out there, even individuals can be tracked if authorities deem it necessary. You can run, but you cann,t hide, anymore.

Simple, google street view stops where public access stops. You can get an aerial view, of course. That view lacks details due to resolution and obliqueness.

The photography my county has made public looks like multiple fly overs from all compass points less than or close to 500 feet. It's like walking around your property taking pictures. You can count the tractors, the implements they are using and the livestock that were present at the time of photography.

Yeah...too invasive if you ask me.

Crazy! Do you think they get these images by airplane? What county is this? I want to see this Eagleview.
