Just want to warn others. I needed a lens for my Mahindra 4510 tractor. Guy wanted $40, high but not finding it anywhere else. Said I would send him a check. Would not accept. I said hold the item until it cleared and then send. No he said. I said for the small amount I would send cash. No was the answer. Said to use venmo or some such. I do not have that. He said he would accept paypal. Sent it to his account. Told me to cancel it and I did. Got a refund on that. Then he said send it to a Caroline Winston, the person I was dealing with was elitesautos9@gmail.com. Had to send it as Friends and Family per his requirements.
He(they) got my money on June 12. After some time wrote and said no delivery, said in 5-7 business days. Well after that I said give me the name of the shipper, date shipped and tracking info. After that nothing of course.
Went to paypal to report it. They said because it was Friends and Family payment no refund available and no help. Just letting others know. He may have various "names" etc.

Why would you use friends and family with someone you have never met?

Do not use the Friends and Family option to pay for goods or services from sellers you don't know and trust. Scammers may try to convince you to use this option to avoid fees and circumvent PayPal's purchase protection. If a seller insists on a Friends and Family payment for an item you're buying, it's a red flag, and you should refuse.

I think you got took for $40.

I was foolish and a novice on this sort of thing. Really had no idea. Just dumb on my part. Not sure of their user names. Somehow contacted through an "intermediary" on my email as I recall.

Wife got burned a few years ago as the seller on something similar.

When it comes to online transactions, at the first sign of something odd, stop drop and roll.

Better to miss out on a good deal than be taken. Sometimes it opens you up to further fraud.

She didn't mention it to me before she messed up because she knew what I would say. I guess she had to learn the hard way.

I am not 100% sure, but that's not 'admin' (which is a real account that no one logs into) but rather the forum is showing the Admin username on someone we delete and it's defaulting to the 'first' user in the database. It's definitely not a REAL account named Admin that's making any new posts (proof when you click it, it's an error page)

But good looking out and I am sorry, OP, for the scam. Any time someone is trying to rush you or pressure you, it's probably worth it to tell them to slow down. But yeah, I think you know all this now and won't be taken again. And hopefully anyone reading this thread learns!
