SC 2400

Just because the "chains" are lose, does not mean that they are lose enough. I can spread the lower lift links over 30" apart. After attaching your implement, be sure to retighten the "chains".

Hope this helps.

Alan

You are the man! After reading your post I went out and knocked the lower links around. They now spread to 30 inches,
Thanks

Does anyone know the diameter of the shaft on the rear wheels of the deck. I wanted to order one of these and took the pictures for the guy of the deck, but forgot to get him the dimension. He has never built the stand for a sc2400 deck.

Thanks,
James

Can anyone tell me if a 60" finish mower can be used behind the sc2400? I just got mine yesterday. I ordered it without the mid mower thinking I could find a used rear mower. The manual says only a 48" can be used, but my dealer is telling me a 60" finish mower will work fine.

60 inch will work just fine! Know that for a fact.

/ SC 2400 #46
Are there any brands that I should avoid? My dealer seems to think that Land Pride and Woods are the best but they may be too heavy.

If anyone has used a 60" behind their sc2400, can you list the brand that you were using?

I had a cub 60" mower that I got in a trade with another cub owner. I thought that it would be just the ticket as I really like to use the 3 pt hitch and do not like to hook up a belly mower.

Used it behind my 5254. What a nightmare. If you used it on any kind of a hill, it would try to swing the tractor around and tip it over. I also had to install the front weight bracket and 8 weights to be able to pick the mower up off the ground.

This was one of my reasons for upgrading to the sc2400. I know have the 60" belly mower and really like it. The new mower is a lot easier to remove and put back on.

Be sure to checkout how much the rear mower will weigh.

Hope this helps, and good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. I hope others post their thoughts too.

My concern on a rear mower came from what the owners manual stated. It states that the max mower width for a pull behind is 48" and max weight is 351 lbs. I posted a question in the CC/Yanmar support site asking the weights of their mowers and FEL. I also called my dealer for the weights. Both responded with the following:

FM48 rear mower = 440 lbs
FM60 rear mower = 375 lbs
FEL = 405 lbs

I guess I can't understand why the manual states the maximums that do not even hold up to their own equipment they sell for the tractor. I didn't want to go out and get something and then be stuck with it and me be unable to use it.

I have put together a spreadsheet of all the mowers I have seen on craigslist and ebay that are within my reach. There are certainly not many mowers that fall below the 351 lbs the manual states (including their own) but there are some that fall within the 440 lbs. The mowers I have found are a Caroni 60" (guy is not sure of the model #) and the two 60" Caroni's I found weights for were the TC590 (412 lbs) and the FA1500 (432 lbs). That is not saying the one he has is one of those models though. I have also found a Woods RM59-3 close to me and the manual for that model shows it is 398 lbs.

I guess I am just interested in finding out what others have used and tried behind their sc2400 so I don't go and make a big mistake purchasing one and regretting it. I am already kind of regretting not getting it with the belly mower, but adding that just set me outside my budget.

Is nobody pulling a 60" mower behind their 2400? I have seen one response saying it is definitely possible, but no one has said they have done it with any particular model of mower.

Does anyone know if the the same size ag tire as the industrial tire will fit on the 2400 or will I need to go smaller as the lugs are a little taller? According to cub cadet's website, the size of the tires are:
Front: 18x8.5x10
Rear: 26x12x12

I'm looking at getting some ag tires and was wondering if I might need to go a size smaller.

Thanks

I too have a mid mount mower but I know the wiehgt will not be a problem lifting a 60" on the 3 pt
but as easy as the mower is to take off and put on I would think the only way Id use a 3pt would be a brush cutter

I think the ag tires you can get with it are the same size I believe they take the lug size into account for size

It's not really the weight that the 3 pt can handle, it's the counter balance problem. Too much weight on the back and the front tires come off the ground. I had to add 8 weights to my 5254 to keep the front tires on the ground.

I have been told if I leave my front loader on, and put a 60" finish mower on the back, it should be no problem and weight would not be an issue. However, I was told that some of the 60" finish mowers can be pretty heavy and I should try to find one that is not too heavy. That is why I have asked here to see what others have done in that regard. I am curious to find out what brands/models of pull behind mowers people have had success with on these tractors. I also wonder if a 72" is going to be too big or heavy. I can find plenty of 72" finish mowers in my area, but not too many 60". I just don't want to go out and get something that for whatever reason does not work behind my new sc2400.

I was greasing the tractor last night and I am not sure I found them all. Does anyone know the number of fittings?
Thanks,
James

/ SC 2400 #55
tractor itself has only one fitting on the hydro pedal pivot, mmm lift linkage has four

/ SC 2400 #56
bought mine in may after plenty of research and three previous larger, and older tractors that i was never satisfied with. got the fel and mmm and have never been happier, 64 hrs on er now from regular mowing this summer and dirtwork with the bucket, uses no fuel, i think it primarily just eats air ?? formed up a rear weight using concrete that weighs 250 and provides ample counterweight for two wheel drive "heaped" bucket transport(sand, topsoil) will handle a full bucket with no weight on the back,in fwd. mine seems to be holding up good how is yours holding up? cant wait to push snow in da "U.P."

could anyone tell me a "start to finish" damage on the front blower?

/ SC 2400 #58
I really dont know what I payed for just the blower but it is one awesome machine
I have had garden tractors up to 25 hp gas and they work harder on 1 inch of snow than this does on 12"

/ SC 2400 #59
I just got a quote from my dealer on a sc2400 with the snowblower. He gave me the MSRP and his price (which will vary from dealer to dealer, I assume, so here's the MSRP

Snowblower (SB45) $2,399
Front Hitch (FH100) 550
Hydr. Rotation Kit (HR45) 650
Hydraulic Valve (SCV100) 625
TOTAL $4,224

His discount to me was in the 20% to 25% range. Still seems like a lot of money, but I think the Front Hitch and the Hydraulic Valve can be used with other implements - front blade, FEL, etc.?? Maybe someone else can verify that. Maybe someone can also tell me if all of three features are needed, too.

I really don't understand why CC/Yanmar doesn't publish their MSRP prices or provide a configurator like Deere does. Unless they believe that they can't sell their machines on a quality basis and must compete on price.

could anyone tell me from experience the best method for using the deck wash system on the sc2400?(fast or slow rpm, length of time?)
