safty on compact tractors

I'm looking to buy an older compact tractor. I have looked at plenty. most do not have roll bars are there some with a reputation of roll overs? I am condisering gray market tractors also so include them too.
If any other safty issues please include also. Thank you

Spend a little bit more and get one with a roll bar. You cannot put a $ price on the added safety, be sure to wear your seat belt too, or it will be more dangerous than a tractor with no roll bar. I watched my son do a dumb thing and his tractor went over. He has a roll bar and was not hurt, just scared the **** out of me.

Agreed. A roll bar is a must. If you're looking at grey-market tractors, there are companies online that sell roll bars for them.

Keep in mind that the roll bar is most effective with the seat belt.

I don't know if there are any tractors more prone to rollover. Any tractor can go over. I've had close calls myself. Usually when doing loader work on inclines.

I retrofitted a ROPS on an older tractor. It was pretty easy. You'll also need a seat belt. A modern seat is a good idea too since they will hold you in place better as you go over.

Getting parts for graymarket tractors can be an issue. What's your horsepower requirement and price range?

dirt work every now and then, maintance on 5 acers. sickle mowing, some snow removel. a FEL is a must. I have a heated garage for winter storage as long as it will fit in 7 ft tall door

I put a ROPS, seat, and seatbelt on my Ferguson. All together it cost about $500. ROPS are available if the tractor was common. There are so many grays out there that you might have trouble.
