Tractor
3130
Got my tractor delivered today(3130 HST). Seems that when the dealer mounted the BH they put the arms etc, for the 3pt in the bucket and when it rained a few days the bucket filled with water and the parts were all wet. I sprayed them with wd-40 but a couple of the ball joints are rusted so bad they will not break free easily

Can I break these loose and be okay or do I need to be getting new arms/parts? I am not happy about the situation but am willing to fix it myself if the rust is not going to affect performance or life of the 3pt.

Lots to learn

Thanks for the help.

Won’t hurt anything… get a little PB blaster, that will dissolve the rust, a little tapping with a hammer, things should loosen right up. Many of the older farm tractors have spent their entire lives outside, rust on the lift arms will work loose. KennyV.

If me I would take them back to the dealer, and let them make the decision. Personnaly, I doubt there is any physical damage that would render them useless over the years.
But mentally, its a bummer to live with and worry about.

If the dealer wants to make a good impression on you, he'll make the right decision. If possibly you have 'worked' him down to knats eyelash in your 'deal', he may have a different approach. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
But if he cleans them up for you (be my guess), and then has this in mind in the future when you want to work with him some more, you may be on the favorable end of a good deal. Scratchin each others back, so to speak. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Those buckets sure can show rust in a hurry when they catch a little water. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

It will in no way hurt anything. Spray some oil on them. Put a pin or bar through and work it around. Then go have some fun. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
