Rounded off drain plug

He may not appreciate the attention.

Or he might have some ask-hole in him like me.

I used to go around the shop and ask everyone what they would do, then do what I had set out to do and everyone more experienced advised me against. Ask hole. Now I don't ask. Haha. If I do, I try to listen.

May have just been youth.

A mechanic mentioned in another thread might suggest a 1 inch drive pulled on by a backhoe to free up that plug. Or maybe it was tightened by a backhoe ?

Apologies, work and life pulled me away. Plug is still in, nothing's been tried recently. Although I have made some hay.

No problem, we know you Kan do.

Learn to weld! Everyone that owns tractors needs basic welding. Any cheap 160+ amp stick welder should do it. Weld a piece of rebar or whatever to the thing and you'll have leverage, and have heated it up enough to break it. Maybe you'll need a buddy to show you how for this one but that's how to stop the wheel spinning. Good luck!

yeah, you just need a good 11 KW generator to run it, or buy a welder/generator..

Rebar would likely bend.

Good to hear from you Kando. You obviously started an interesting thread. Please keep us updated as you are able in between work and life and haying, etc.

I read the first 5 pages thinking how could this thread get to 41 pages to remove a bolt. Kan稚 Do has had the problem for over 3 months now.

I have never drained the oil out of my Mercedes and have 272k miles on it.

I assume this tractor has a dip stick? Use an oil extractor pump. Small plastic tube down the tube...apply vacuum and done. Simple, and little or no mess. KISS

Got mine from Northern Tool...Mity Vac

I tried that on my mom’s 2015 suburban because I didn’t have a catch pan to hold the 8 quarts. The stupid thing ( I hate that car) had a stopper at the end of the dipstick hole and I couldn’t get the hose through the bottom.

yeah you're right, guess i meant like a little piece of rebar or square bar or whatever that you can grab with vicegrips or a monkey or pipe wrench, just something that you could really grab onto with no difficulty. the heat too...

Monkey wrench, now there is a description I have not heard in a while. I have a couple of monkey wrenches but do not use them much.

nuh-unh. little cheap inverter welders run off a light socket 15-20 amps. never popped a breaker with mine and it goes up to 200 amps. I agree if you've got to find a welder and a generator it gets to being a pain in the ***. I've never tried it, but has anyone ever seen people weld with a car battery? I bet you could stick that thing with a big battery, a jumper cable and one 6013 stick problem solved.

Great idea, suggested WAY back on post #120 and jumped on by a lot of people as something that will cause cancer in small children and plague.

I know a lot of people use mityvacs for engine oil and transmission oil change. Could that work here to get the old fluid out?

I've used my little HF $5 hand pump to take a half quart out of my VW when they vastly overfilled it.

Google is selling the info to Russia so they can convince all the tractor people here to buy Russian made tractors. lol Probably making them without drain plug, using a petcock.

I could accept a petcock before I could accept a Russian tractor.
