I will mention this again I will stake my reputation the crank being bent also! I believe you could at least check it with the head and the one rod/piston out by turning the crank and watching either the ring gear or the balancer for radial and lateral runout with a dial indicator not going to be easy to set up but now is the time to check it!
The ring gear edge of the flywheel is farthest out from CL so will obviously show a greater deviation than the balancer and also probably easier to set up a dial with either the starter out or maybe there is a side inspection plate like mine has.
I believe you may "feel" the bend also when turning it. good luck
When I said I have seen cranks so bent you could feel it in the clutch pedal I was serious. it doesn't take much lateral runout to wobble the flywheel pretty bad and generally cause engine vibration. I hope its not but good luck on it!
