I am posting pictures of my roll-over scraper in response to the "Motorcross track tools" thread. They are handy scrapers, but tend to be expensive than box scrapers, heavier, and not seen as much with home users.

The roll-over scraper can be placed in three positions. There is a large lever sticking up from it that releases a lock. The scraper itself pivots forwards or backwards.

Position one is for scarcify. This one is all rippers! Although mine is a smaller 52" model, I can still sink rippers 8-10" in the ground.

Position two rotates the scraper unit to a forward scraping position. This allows it to work much like a regular scraper box, without the rippers coming in to play.

Position three rotates the scraping edge to the rear. This allows it to be used to scrape going in reverse, push piles, or "doze". If you go forward while in this position, it is excellent for smothin and finish work.

There are 10 pictures, and I will try my best to explain them...

This first picture is of the roll-over scraper in the ripper position. Note the rippers are facing down, while the box side is facing up.

Here is the entire tractor. Roll-over scraper has rippers down

Yes, I know about the hoses hanging down... I have the stuff to fix it... I know I would not get that one past the TBN crowd /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Here is the scraper in position to scrape forward. Note the trip lever sticking up(the handle is out of the picture). Also note the top and bottom cutting edges. The top cutting edge comes into play when the scraper rolls over and faces backwards, becoming the lower cuttin edge.

This picture shows the scraper from the rear, while in the forward scraping position. Note rippers, actually a lot more ripper than my 19hp can pull /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

This is the side of the scraper. To the top you can see the partially engaged latch. In the middle, behind what is left of the "Earthcavator" sticker, is the actual pivot point(same on other side of too)

This picture shows the unit rotated to the third position. Note the rippers face forward now. The scraper itself faces to the rear.

This pictures is from the back, showing the scraper portion ready to scrape in reverse, or "doze". It works soo much better for this purpose than a regular scraper box.

This is looking from the back tire of the tractor. It is hard to see the cutting edge. The TnT has the unit rolled as far back as possible. By dragging forward, it does a wonderful job for finish smoothing. Note the rippers still face forward, up out of the way, and the scraper itself faces rearward.

Also note, the rippers can only be used when they are in position on, for ripping. Even with TnT, I cannot roll the unit enough to engage the rippers if the setup is in the forward or backward scraping position.

Woods has one. It is hard to find in thier web page, and I lost the link I used to have. This particular one is an older Gannon. My B-in-Law has the same thing, but a 6' on a L series Kubota. He has more weight and HP than I, and can sink the rippers and really go.

I see them around, but they are not as prevelant as the run of the mill box scraper.

It can move some serious dirt. Using it and my 5' scraper box, I can definitely move more dirt with the roll-over.

Robert - Great pics & info, thanks! My M5400 has plenty of power (50hp & 4wd), but I'm not sure if I want to go wider than the width of the rear tires (6ft). Available sizes are 6, 6.5, 7 & 8 feet widths.

Anyone have some insight on the width? Pros & cons of going wider? Seems that either sinking the rippers or fairly full box of dirt would be a significant load.

Pro's and cons of width...

A little wider than the back tire width makes sure that you cover tire tracks for finish work.

But, a little wider makes it harder when a combo of loader and scraper work is done. My loader is 4', my tires 4'6", and the scraper just a tad wider... I have had need to rip, and then scoop with the loader. I would scoop with the loader, and then my back tires rode up on one side, making the loader work harder to get level

I do wish my tractor were "square", ie same width loader and scraper, with tires just fitting a little narrower.

Thanks for a very informative post. A friend of mine has one of these and he's also been telling a lot of good thing about it.
