Sounds like a good reason to buy a second tractor!!!!
He had his JD 4044 with 85 hrs for sale and I would have bought it, except my wife misread the text from the seller. He said he bought it in 2022 for $33K. That's where my wife stopped reading and she told me he wanted $33K, so I declined.

Had she read further down the text, she would have seen he was asking $22K, which I gladly would have paid.

Yes. Really bad screw up. Even though our Kubota L3800 is a similar HP, it's a weakling compared to the capabilities of the JD. I would have done the few backhoe projects I need done with the L3800, then sold it.

The Electrolux washer and gas dryer arrived while I was out hunting the other week. Of course, the dryer arrived without an LP conversion kit. So, I had to order that. I got everything installed today. The washer is extremely quiet.

Typical new house things are popping up as I learn some of the nuances. The ventless gas fireplace in the living room quit working. I'm actually surprised how much heat it throws out. I thought I'd hate it and was expecting to replace it with a wood burning fireplace, but I have to admit that the simplicity is pretty nice and it throws out a surprising amount of heat. I guess it's a modern version of the old Dearborn heaters, in a sense. It's included in the new home warranty, so I'll make a call to get it fixed.

There's an issue with the hot water too. We have a Navien 240A2 tankless water heater with a return loop. It's one of the largest residential units they make. It has an internal pump that periodically sends fresh hot water through the lines, so even at the furthest faucet/shower, you get hot water instantaneously. Except the hot water peters out after 5 minutes if you're in the shower. I have a buddy with the exact same setup, and this thing should give you hot water for days, so something isn't right. I suspect a setting isn't correct or it's missing a check valve or something. I'll need to have a plumber come out and look at it.

How was the Yamaha when you were out hunting? Has it found it's place in your new shop?

I'm super impressed with the Yamaha Viking. I was actually hunting with a buddy of mine whose son road races for Yamaha. He has a 2013 Viking and is the one that talked me into mine. There's a reason they've been unchanged for years, you can't fix perfection! I'm always amazed at how the suspension just swallows up bumps.

We told our children to just hire an auction service after we pass, call Salvation Army to choose what they want then what doesn't sell or is taken, call one of those "we take it all" companies to clear out everything remaining.

No one even seems to consider the idea of emmigating when you retire?
Your dollars can go a long way in some countries.
Obviously, it's a big step and probably not many people are suited for it.
Still, the concept is worth exploring.

I live on 10 acres near the sea in southern Portugal.
