REPLY FROM KUBOTA CONCERNING 50 HOUR FLUID CHANGES

While getting ready for Church today, I pondered this situation a bit more thoroughly. I think I have it figured out! Those of us that have BX's or a bunch of us that have BX's know that one front tire/rim is bad. I figured out that Kubota had bought a bunch of bad rims or tires and for some reason they didn't get the supplier to replace them. Maybe the supplier went bankrupt. I believe they have 2 stacks of mounted tires for the front of BX's.The stack of good ones and the stack of bad ones. Now they only put one bad one on each machine because you rarely hear of anyone having two that go flat on the front, just one. I believe what they done on the change over was planned at the beginning of the run on the BX24 and BX2350 that they were going to supply the new manuals indicating no SUDT fluid change at the first 50 hour service. Now, don't quit on me yet, I'm getting there. When change over time came some idiot in publication ordering had ordered more of the old manuals or the publisher did not make the changes and it wasn't caught until mid run. So as with the run of bad BX front tires the company to save money continued sending out new machines with the old manual until all of the old manuals were depleted then started sending out the new manuals. Therefore we have BX24's and BX2350's with different manuals. Now they got rid of all them old manuals by the time the BX25 and BX2660 came out so all of them will have the new manual. Now this is how my mind works and this is what I think happened until someone comes up with a better theory or the Company Rep calls or writes me something different. Now I have started thinking again after having stopped for a few minutes and I now believe my theory will be quoted in future forums as "The Kubota representative said (my theory) I read it/heard it or saw it.

It seems many, many BX's have one front tire that won't hold air. I've had several BX's and 2 or 3 of them have had one tire from the bad stack along with several other users on TBN. You may have gotten one where somebody went on break and got confused and put two on from the good stack or they may have finally ran out of tires/rims in the bad stack. My BX2660 from last spring was assembled when they still had some in the bad stack. Just keep an eye out on your front tires before starting your work. Easy way to check for proper air pressure is to step on the tire, shouldn't give unless you weigh alot.

Mine seem to be holding air ok. Must have been a bad Monday for my guy.

HA, the tire theory makes me laugh. I had a BX23 for 3 seasons before I traded to a B3030. Wouldn't you know it, the right front tire ALWAYS lost air, from the day I got it. The dealer swore that it was fine. I would keep an eye on it, sometimes it needed air, sometimes it didn't. I chalked it up to some damage I had done. I finally put a thorn through it and brought it to the tire store, they demounted it, patched it and put it back on. It appeared to be better after that.

My truck had the same thing going on for 2 years, the right front would lose like 5 to 8 pounds a week. I left my little tire filler pump plugged in next to the tire, every Saturday I would put air in it, I did this about 104 times. I finally got a new set of tires and it solved the problem, the old ones were showing wire just about. My wife thinks I am an idiot, she is pretty accurate I suspect, it is a mix of idiot and cheap I think.

I can't comment on this hydraulic fluid business with any knowledge, but my B3030 manual said to change it at 50 so I did, I suspect that when I go to do the filters I will just change the fluid again, it will be sometime in the spring. It only takes a couple hours and I find it theuraputic, I get in the zone and it feels good when it is done. There is no strainer on the B3030, but the cork business is certainly a good idea. I would probably use a rubber stopper or something so when I pulled it out I didn't get cork in my fluid.

Yep......I forgot all about the one front tire that doesn't hold air like the other three. That's a pita to have to check that tire everytime you go for a ride. Now, what to do? Putting a sealant in won't help. Geeze!

My 1910 and L3400 have never had tire problems. My JD had one that kept going flat from a leaky bead. I finally put a tube in it. Problem solved.

It's one front tire on the BX's that have had the problem. Hopefully the "bad stack" is finally gone.
