I've smashed the fender mounted flashers on my 2001 NH TC33D on a number of occasions while working in the woods. The stock rectangular lights mounted on top of a bracket that was bolted to a fixture welded tot he ROPS. Despite the flexible mounting on the factory lights (they are supposed to give way when hit by something), the left one is now just a beat up stump.

What they are supposed to look like

Since I do run my tractor on the road from time to time, I'd like to have working flashers (both for safety, and for liability/legal purposes). I don't want to just replace them with stock lights again. I'm interested in any more durable solutions any of you have come up with. I don't want to drill or weld on the ROPS, if that can be avoided.

I'm currently thinking of removing the bolt-on brackets and mounting something directly to the bracket welded on the ROPS. Perhaps something like these oval LEDs in a steel box, mounted in a vertical orientation, bolted to the bracket on the ROPS to keep them in tight to the ROPS:

I'd have to replace the oval red lights with amber ones (which are readily available). The downside is that they would not be visible from the front. I could buy another set of the amber oval lights and cut a hole in the other side of the box to mount them.

An alternative would be to find something cheap and disposable, and just replace them when they get smashed. Maybe something like this at $21 for the pair?

While I like those lights you suggested as replacements I’m not sure they are durable enough to avoid damage.

I built my replacements out of 1/8” plate steel. I have red & amber lights facing to the rear and ambers facing front. The strobes in the middle are white.

The one thing I would do is to orient them more vertically to decrease how much the stick out to the side.

Thanks, Dieselscout80.
I had mentioned removing the bolt on bracket and attaching to the welded on bracket in a vertical orientation in my post. If I go that way, they should end up in much the same position as what you show in your picture.

So you built the metal box surrounding the lights in your picture? Hard to get an idea of scale. Is that really 1/8" thick? The boxes I pictured are 14 gauge (0.075" thick). I saw them mounted on a friends trailer and they seemed sturdy (at any rate much better than the stock lights). I might look in to making something to fit out of heavier stock. Unfortunately, I don't have the capability to cut a nice oval hole, so it might require a trip to a local fabricator.

I already have red lights built into the fenders that are still in good shape (they don't show in my pictures, as they are off the bottom of the shot). I'm guessing they are running lights, not brake lights, since I don't think there is a contact on the brake pedal to activate them - and even if there were, it's an HST transmission, so I rarely use the brakes.
