Thanks! The pond was dangerously low up until a huge rainstorm a couple of weeks ago. It fortunately sees a significant amount of runoff from the north and fills up fast. We just bought the 2.5 acres next door that included the pond a few months ago. I'm going to have someone give me a quote to enlarge the pond. I want to move the dam downhill (roughly 60 feet), dredge out the whole pond (it's silted in over time and is only 5-6' at the deepest point in the middle) and widen the footprint in a few areas. I'd like to triple the water volume if possible. Maybe more. We have some healthy catfish but the bass population isn't doing well.
That's the plan. I'm a very low hour user but I plan to keep this rig into retirement so I went ahead and upgraded after losing the L3901.
I'm hopeful that my implements will be ok behind the MX5400. I have a Woodland Mills 24" stump grinder that's rated for 46 PTO HP. The MX5400 is 47 PTO HP. I don't figure 1 HP is going to blow the stump grinder apart. Besides that, I have an old 5' brush hog that I paid $200 for on Craigslist, a 3 point auger that was given to me in trade for stump grinding and a 5' box blade that came with the 2.5 acres.

That grapple is my favorite tool...well worth the wait.
In the interim, suggest getting some strong expanded metal, or similar, to cover the front guard on the MX.
Not many survive "real" grapple work without it...it will be your next most favorite investment, right behind the grapple!

Nice outfit for sure. Enjoy! The wicked grapple is wicked good. Like their equipment. Few add front guard protection for grapple work before using the grapple. Most after some damage. Sticks are sneaky. Rarely see the one that gets you.

Why I chose the MX over an L.
These are 40 x 48 pallets of retaining wall stone. I can pick them up the short dimension but not the long. I'm at the limit of both lift and curl. Fortunately it's not a long distance to move.
I cannot lift the pallet of pavers, so I'll have to offload a layer or two.

Check your hydraulic pressure. It should be around 2630 PSI. The dealer delivered my MX5800 with it set at 2400. When I complained, they boosted it 10% which made a big difference in the lift capacity of the LA1065. It also made a noticeable improvement in the performance of the BH92 as well.
I know of some who boost the pressure to 2800 but I don't recommend going that high. Perhaps others will post their opinions.

I am one of those that learned the hard way that I need a grill guard. Used my last tractor with a grapple and no grill guard for over ten years with no damage. Bought a new tractor and damaged the hood and mesh grill screen within a year.
