JD 5425
The tractor will not start. Probably an issue with the ring gear. Plan to remove the 542 loader and then take off the starter. Can I remove the loader without tractor power? Plan to use another tractor to life loader off the ground and on to support posts.

Unless it's a power shuttle you can pull start it with the other tractor and save a lot of trouble. Another possibility is to reach in, push on the fan belt and pull on the fan blade. I have done that many times to roll an engine a few degrees to get some different ring gear teeth lined up with the starter.

If you have another tractor you may also be able to use extension hoses to power the "dead" loader with the other tractor, at least enough to dismount it the normal way, then pull the dead tractor away from the parked loader.

Wow, good ideas. Yes it is powerful shift. I think I can lift the loader enough with the other tractor to get loader on the front supports and then move to the side and lift the other end of loader off the pins.
Thanks,
Craig
