I thought it would be neat to post some pictures of the racks I made for my 2007 3500. I bought the truck this past summer, as a chassis cab, and had a 9' Redding gooseneck flatbed put on. I priced out the factory steel racks $2700, and decided I could do better myself. Total cost for materials $300 for custom bent steel for the posts that slid in the pockets, about $100 for the 5/4 pt lumber, $140 for hardware, and the steel for the door I made I had laying around, maybe $60. It took about 10 hours over a couple of weeks. I figure $600 for materials and $400 dollars for my labor, which I consider to have been more fun than work. These pics are of my truck being used to transport our hunting gang from drive to drive. we put a couple of old couches in the back, and we had us a redneck limo. With the door, and a hitch step, it was easy in, and easy out.
