Rediculous uses of tractors

I think Glenn might be leading us down the path of rediculous uses for a tractor being..................a boat? I didn't know Kubotas could float, then again I've only owned one for a couple of years. There have to be pictures of this!!!

Put my parents in the bucket and gave them a first class ride on a path I had made around the north forty. Their both 70 ish and loved the ride.

Von- Have been using the tractor for deer retrival for 8 yrs now, isn't it great! Get them in the bucket, back to the house hang em up wash em out and you hang em up offthe bucket and ya got a hyd. buck poll! I watch this discussion group because I am purchashing a new tractor, I currently use a 20hp 4*4 yanmar. It makes a good skidder, back the draw bar over the log (if the bar goes over the log the tractor will pull it) and wrap chains over it, pick it up just a few inches, and increase the lift as you need to go over things. It gives you a great sense of accomplishment when you look back.

I guess I'm still too new to the tractor game to judge what is ridiculous and what is not.

This weekend one of my main tasks will require a lot of hand tools but no tractor (mainly 'cuz it's in a spot that I simply can't get all the way into with the tractor). It's about a quarter of a mile from the house and I'll need a pick, shovel, large pry bar, one of those oversized hoe thingies (can't remember what you call it), an ax and maybe a rake. Oh -- and a large beverage cup. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

So, is it "ridiculous" that I'm planning on using the tractor just to ferry the tools to the job site and back? /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Harv, that's not a "ridiculous" use, I think it's pretty practical. I used to use my farm truck to tote my tools to where I was doing a chore. It took it because it had a radio I could listen to as I worked. The radio went out in February and I've never fixed it. So now the truck stays home and the tractor goes.

Back in the summer I was down at a neighbor's visiting. My wife called and asked if I'd run by the grocery...she thought I was in my truck. I went to the store anyway, it's about 3 miles away. Put the groceries in the loader and headed home. I don't think that even falls under the definition of "rediculous", do you?

Maybe I've been warped too much by living in a rural area where people drive their tractors and lawn mowers to the gas station to get fuel, sandwich, drink, or whatever but all of the uses listed so far don't really seem 'ridiculous' just some 'cool' or slightly out of the ordinary things that people have done.

My two favorites so far are BillC getting groceries (I wish I was only 3 miles from a grocery store so I could try that one /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif) and Glenn's walking his dogs with the tractor wearing a suit and tie (that would have been a 'Kodak moment') and then ending up with a 'submarine'.
