When I was in college, I used to run a case 1907 steam traction engine (crude tractor, mostly used as a mobile power source rather than for tillage) at special events. If I didn't feel like getting up early enought to build up a head of steam so i could drive it before traffic started moving, I would tow it behind a newer tractor. It made a good match with a clean 2755w/cab that belonged to research operations.
Anyway, my last year, I was unable to borrow the 2755, and used a worn out 3020. I had a friend drop me off to pick it up. It turned out that it had to be jumped off, oil had to be added, and steering was too loose to drive as fast as I would have liked. I realized I didn't have time to drop it off and walk to class. So I drove it on to class (with my backpack hanging from the top link. Somebody snapped a picture as I was pulling into the modern looking electrical engineering building, and put it in the paper with the caption "Patton Turner, 04EE, driving to school"
