Tractor
John Deere 4100 HST
Just wanted to say Hi. I've been getting good info from this forum for quite a while and finally joined. I retired a few months ago and settled in Eastern Tennessee. I've had a Kubota for years and it has been unbreakable. Last month I happened to find a great deal on a <200 hour, showroom perfect, John Deere 4100 Hydro and bought it on the spot. What a great little tractor! Thinking about adding a mid mower and will be looking for info about it soon.
Best Regards

Greetings from WV! Gotta love those Green deals where you give a little green and get a big Green in return :D

:welcome: to TBN.

Thanks for the warm welcome! So far in my "retirement" I have remodeled two floors of our house and three bathrooms, and had a detached garage framed/roofed that I am finishing. I get to use my box blade to smooth out and re-seed some of my lawn also. Sure is relaxing. My JD4100 has almost new filled R1 tires and I am noticing the tracks a bit more than I like. Where do I post or look for a discussion about getting R4 tires and non-green aftermarket wheels?

I would go to the JD Forum.

Thanks kw. We have two Fed kids living in Alexandria. Work has often taken us to DC but now we just go to visit them. Wife retired 6 months ahead of me.

Welcome Retfed. Assuming by the name you worked for the government. Recently retired myself. Enjoying every minute of it. If you got the owners manual is a plus. Owning the service manual is a must have if you plan on doing repairs yourself. Welcome to TractorByNet from middle Tennessee. -robert

That explains why you've kept so busy, lol.

Yep, unfortunately, we live in the land of Fed.

Happy retirement!

Most of us don't really "retire", we just do different work and don't get paid.

When I first retired I missed the routine and the pay check. Went back to my old side business of home improvements. Work was slow, more repeat customers for small jobs. Wasn't worth the insurance and tax probs. I've always liked and worked on old classic VWs, and I love to build trikes. Now I tinker on my 2 and maintain and repair lots of my friends. Occasionally someone wants me to build them 1 but nowadays it's a real hassle to register them legally thru DMV, so even that slowed down. I've now learned to slow down and take each day as it comes, not straying too far from the homestead.
I don't even miss the near non-existent income anymore(although I'm POSITIVE wifey would disagree!)
