Rear remotes

Coby, That's what I did. I bought 1/2" ready made hoses at my local TSC store (3500 PSI) and also the quick connect fittings which I have at each end of the hoses. I believe my hoses were 14'. I bought some 90 degree fittings and ran the hoses under the tractor to the front zip tying every foot or so. I bought various length shorter hoses for each attachment. Some were 4' some 6' depending on attachment. Cost for everything was around $200. Now I can use the Thumb or Hyd PH auger on the front.

I have been thinking on how to do rear remotes and 3rd function..

I think I have sort of settled on similar to what NYLou did above, with additional quick connects on loader post so I can take loader off if I want and not have to mess with the long hoses from the rear. I'm over thinking it, but will just do it when the time comes.. likely influenced by price and availability of parts needed..

I went with the WR long third function kit for my XR4140H (Electric over hydraulic vslves). Works great with thumb switch on front controller and with longer hoses that stay on tractor when I disconnect grapple. Expensive but I installed myself without having much hydraulic system experience!

If you install the wr long 3rd function, you can take it off the mounting plate and bend the plate in a vice and remount the hydraulic valve so that it tucks in underneath enough to still use the step on that side without kicking the valve. If you just mount it, it interferes with the step.

one of the issues with the WR Long kit though from what I've read is it's not recommended to use for anything that's going to be in action very long like a PHD or broom. Says it right in the information on the order, at least if you look it up on everything attachments site it does. I've been drooling over the limbninja front mount hydraulic bush hogs, and I don't think it would be suitable to run it on the WR Long kit, but I would expect coming from the rear remotes it probably would be fine.

of course I don't have rear remotes either, so there's that....

Don't most hydraulic PHD's, Brooms, Rotary Cutters require high flow?

Papa i ran across a LS dealer site that had a u tube of how to install the rear remotes, i did a google didn't find it but think it was a northern dealer. Dummy me i didn't save the site. My dealer installed remotes on my tractor and only charged me his cost with no labor.

I will be using my rear remote to operate my jaws of my root grapple , found the 1/2 inch X 10 ft hydraulic hose 3500# for $33.22 each on e bay, I ordered the ISO 5675 3 males and one female hyd couplers with cap protectors from Amazon for $32.
I use a hydraulic cylender for my middle hook up so i can adjust my Disk, Tiller, 6 ft finish mower and planter without getting off the tractor. I will cap the ends of the hyd cylender or root grapple hoses and rig up some way to hold them out of the way when not in use. Everything is on order and will be here by next week.

Well everything is installed and the root grapple is a awesome tool for my tractor.
I bought a MTL 48 inch grapple for $890 and was surprised at quality and its rugged build , this is a cheap in price grapple but not in quality i am impressed after using it.
If you are thinking about using your rear remotes to operate the grapple i would like to add that if i had it to do again i would use 3/8x 15 ft hoses instead of 1/2 inch and the 3/8 can be bought on e bay at a reasonable price at approximately 1/2 of the cost at my local hydraulic shop.
I dont see any problem with using the rear remote lever for opening and closing the grapple.
This is the best $1000 i have spent on equipment for my tractor .

Very good advice, that's what I did! Every thing works fine with 3/8" hose. Much easier to route and much cheaper also. I put 2 disconnects on loader arm also.

Not a big deal for me to operate front hydraulics with 3 point lever.
