I am looking for a Quality Rear Finish Mower for my recently purchased Kubota L-3430. I am looking at 72" models. I want a fairway grade cut for the 4 acres I will be mowing. I am looking at Woods, Landpride and First Choice. Any suggestions or experience would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the input and great reading, I have been learning a lot on TBN !!!!

I used a 72" Land Pride for four years, cut fine, it was a side discharge. The rear discharge models are better, safer and you don't have to worry about the mowing near obstacles or having the grass blow around. The only problem I had was the tires, I went through two sets.

In 2000 I purchased a Woods, rear discharge, this unit is heavy than the Land Pride, cut great, no problems to date. I mow both 5 acres of lawn and 18 acres of pasture a few time a year.

Certainly nothing wrong with the brands you've already mentioned. My own was a Bush Hog RDTH60 and I was very happy with it. Just another brand you might consider.

I purchased a 72" First Choice rear-discharge w/anti-scalp roller last year to mow the pastures and front lawn. The mower is built very tough (3/16 decking), cuts great, was priced quite a bit lower than the Woods or Landpride, and does a great job cutting. Also one of the few companies I've dealt with that didn't hit you with high parts prices. The three spare blades were $8/ea, less than I paid for blades for my lawn tractor. Its been a great mower.

I just bought a brand new First Choice 72" rear discharge from Sweets in Kentucky.

I compared it to JD, Woods and King Kutter. I paid, I think, 1195 +180 for shipping.

I am very happy. The quality is similar to woods at < 1/2 the price. I'd place JD second and KK last.

I have read a lot of good things here about First Choice. It really is a world class quality at a bargan price. I wish more local dealers would carry First Choice.

I've got a Bush Hog ATH 900 finish mower, which is a 7 1/2 foot cut. It does a fantastic job, but to get a good cut without scalping, have to be on VERY smooth ground, or set at a fairly high cut. With that much blade and belt, I am constantly replacing shear bolts with just hitting a mole hill. Not that I mind, mind you. It's better than shredding the belt to the tune of about $120. I just priced a "Spider" 5 footer today, sorry can't remember the manufacturer, but was priced between $900-$950. I'll grab this up in a heartbeat, but I've got customers to help pay for it. If you've got fairway quality ground, and the time to do the mowing on a regular basis, I'd really lean toward the best deal you can get, irregardless of brand name.

I use a First Choice. I believe you can get them in orange to match your tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I have blue to match my tractor and I've seen red and green ones.
I got it at Corrihers in Newton, NC.
They will ship anywhere.
They advertise here on TBN.

I would be interested in knowing how much the Landpride is vs the First Choice if you got quotes on them. I haven't priced them yet, but one may be in my future. I am pretty pleased with the Landpride PHD I have.

When I looked at both brands, the Landpride was about $300 more than the First Choice mower I ended up buying. Landpride is about $200 or $300 less than the Woods though.

all of the rfm's u mentioned will give u a very nice cut,but more important to get FAIRWAY GRADE cuts u need to cut often, don't care what mower u have , if the grass gets tall or is wet u are going to clump, don't care what name brand u are using.

All good recommendations. My vote goes to the as yet unmentioned BefCo. I have had (3) BefCo's in various sizes (moving up) and only have one issue... the C30 model is a light weight unit (mine was a 72") that needed some beefing up at mounting locations (the whole mower twisted & swayed when lifted). The C50 series which I have now is significantly heavier-duty and works great. I run a 7' mower with my L3410 and mow 6 acres.
