One of the things I'd like to do to my tractor is expand the hydraulics. Adding a third function valve seems like a popular choice, so I'll probably start there. I'd like to add a spool valve beside my loader valve. I think I found a way to do that if it will work. Can someone with some experience tell me if I can replace my current loader valve with this one and have the single spool to use as the 3rd function?

3 SPOOL 24 GPM NIMCO OC W/PWR BYD VALVE NO HANDLES

I don't think it has regen, is that necessary or will it cause a problem?
If this will work like I think can I then use my current loader valve as rear remotes to run top n tilt cylinders?

Sorry for all the questions but I've read so much over the last few days I'm just not sure.

!st it's a 24 gpm valve and your tractor is 4.4 gpm, so not a good choice. Why not just come off the PB off the loader valve with a 1, 2 or3 spool valve that has a 8 to 10 gpm flow? The new valve would also need a PB to feed the 3PT.

That's what I had in mind, but while looking through the valves I stumbled on that one. I thought if it would work I could kill 2 birds with 1 stone, but I'll keep looking.

Does your current valve have regen?

I dont think that is something I would want to give up. Not really for the speed increase, but keeps air out of the dump cylinders when dumping a heavy load. Keeps you from having a "floppy" bucket once dumped and a hesitation (purging the air out) before it will start to curl back up.

Yes, it's a typical loader valve with regen and float. I've never used one without it so wasn't sure.

I'll most likely add a 1 spool valve in the front off my current loader valve and later on a 2 spool loader valve in back to control a top n tilt. There's not a lot of room for a bank of valves on my tractor, so I'll have to get creative when it comes time to mount everything so it doesn't look like something out of grade school science fair but is still in reach.
