Hanging out in my rock wall. Can't get a clean shot because of the rocks & he won't lay his head out on the flat where we can chop it. Pretty stinkin' inconsiderate if you ask me.

Ya think a blast with a fire extinguisher would chill him sufficiently so he could be hooked out & permanently dispatched?

Throw a bunch of ice in there or possibly a big cup of ice water, he'll come out fairly quick.

If it is a carbon dioxide extinguisher, yes that will really cool him off/slow him down

I tried a hose, but he just went farther back into the wall. I think the squirrels have a network of tunnels and he's using those to travel behind the rocks. Didn't think of ICE though, worth a try, thanks.

I'm not too worried about him getting one of us, but our dogs and goats are too dumb to know it's a danger. :(

I have known snake hunters to take garden sprayers, put in some gasoline, and spray it down into a den. They say the snakes just come boiling out. I'm not suggesting this option, although I might come up with something kinda stinky or obnoxious, like maybe ammonia, etc.

I don't think that chilling him would kill him unless you could freeze his head almost solid. He would just slow down so that you could hopefully handle him safely.

I like the ammonia idea- maybe the fumes will drive him out.

Snakes only take 1-2 breaths per minute, and can hold their breath for extended periods of time (minutes), so if you are hoping fumes will drive him out, you might have a long wait. Gasoline on him will at least make him move somehere.

Went rattle snake hunting when I was a teenager with my Dad and some of his friends and they just poured a little gas down holes in the ground to run them out then took them out with a 12 gauge.

Same around here, with the rattlesnake hunts.

I get around 4 to 5 rattlers per season in the yard. We bought a Gentle Giant snake handler pole to grab them and place them into a plastic trunk. Then they get taken for a ride down the road where we cut them loose.

Remember, no pictures, it didn't happen and we won't believe you.

LOL! Didn't think to take pictures but will if he reappears. I poured ammonia in several of the holes around where he was; nobody bolted out immediately but I didn't have time to hang around and watch (deadlines - danged customers won't pay me unless they get their stuff finished - so annoying ). It may have worked though 'cause no sign of him since. Fingers crossed and thanks to everyone for the help & suggestions.

Not sure how well it works, never tried it, but I've always heard moth balls were a good deterrent for snakes. Might could tried to put some around just to keep them from coming back.

Try 22 birdshot, it doesn't pack much of a punch so you won't have it ricocheting off your wall.
