It seems auto makers are putting out quite a few recalls now compared to five or ten years ago. I see that as a good thing that they are stepping up to fix items that used to be let go and up to the consumer.
As far as pulling the transmission, it should be as simple as disconnecting all linkage and wiring, disconnecting the driveshaft, remove transfer case, and then pull the tranny.
