Dusty, itchy dry here in Kansas, the yard is golden brown already. How are the rest of you guys doing?

My lawn was looking better all the time until I got my latest water bill a couple of days ago. I bought two more soaker hoses today, so I can water just around the foundation. The rest of it may be brown very soon.:(

Grass getting crunchy around here as well. We got normal hay production for our first cutting. If we don't get some rain soon, there may not be much of a second cutting.

So sorry for the folds in the northeast, I work midnights and had no idea they were flooding. wish we could spare them some of that rain, we need it!!

I took these pictures about 2 weeks ago in my front yard. Still no rain. I only water up close to the house like Bird is starting to do. This week I tryed to cut a fire break around the fence row and broke a hitch pin on my 2 bottom breaking plow.

Also this week I saw corn being cut for hay. Not enough rain for the corn to make ears so might as well feed it to the cattle.

Thank the Lord, we got 2.92" last week. That was more than we had received in total the first six months of the year. The pastures are green. There is water in a laguna that had been bone dry for two years. The cattle are not even coming into the pens for hay, and forbs are sprouting out for the deer. Perhaps it is too much to hope that the drought that has consumed us for over two years has broken, but a whole lot of folks down here know that our prayers were answered.

Sunny and dry here in Oregon. The sprinklers are on everyday, flowers are blooming and the lawn started to show some brown spots. The pastures are drying up except in the tree shades.

Mornin Bill,
We got a few days break from the rain:) Everythings still very green, unusual for July  Grass is usually getting brown by now !

I guess we are extremely fortunate to between the drought to the west, and the floods to the east and north of us. Right now, I'm not sure it could be more perfect here in the Potomac Highlands of West Virginia.

I figure my pond is a good indicator. It has been either just above, or just below the overflow pipe since about March. Got about another half-inch of rain last night. Not too hot, not to cool. The corn is 3 to 4 foot high. Most everybody is just finishing, or has already finished this cutting of hay.

Got 2 1/2 inches last night in the most beautiful Midwest thunderstorm. It was like standing in a shower. I was out cleaning the maple seeds out of the gutters so they would drain. I was soaked. Rain bouncing off the roof, and I loved every minute of it. Water was warm and coming down heavy.

It has been very dry here in the my part of the Ozarks. In fact I saw a tree chasing a dog the other day. But thankfully we are in the middle of a good ole' summer thunderstorm. So far 2.5" and still raining. It has come down so fast that there are flash flood warnings out for this area. Imagine, dry one minute and flooding the next. Oh well that's the Ozarks for ya:rolleyes:

I'm only about 20 miles east of BillBill, but it's pretty green around here. The last few days we've had some showers, and my pond's not drying up, so it's just about the right amount for summer I guess. The humidity's sky high tho - yuck!
