He might have had the time before he retired, but not now!!! ;)

Ain't that the truth; I told him about "retirement" and he had to see it too believe it.

If the 3/16" mesh were 6-8 inches in front of the grill,, there would be zero chance the stick that long would have any strength.

Possibly, even 1/2" openings at 10 inches in front would stop all damage.

Poking any stick through mesh for 10 inches would be a very odd occurance,,,

That screening Kub uses can be dented or pushed in by a large Bee flying real fast:laughing:
Other than the headlights shining through, I wouldn't be concerned (for cooling reasons) if it was a solid surface, and least dead on in the front. The rad. sits back on my tractor at least 20" from the very front so air movement on the side might be a consideration, but off road equipment not like a car with road speed air passing through.

I figured that I should be able to see sticks attacking my head lights, so I didn't protect them. I did use a double layer of mesh where the "worst" attacking sticks would be coming from, low and centered. I also add mesh on the bottom, mainly so I can carry my chain up front.

FWIW if you guy's have an old plastic truck bed liner hanging around, they make some super tuff shielding material any where on your tractor.

I made it as wide as possible inside the loader arms with no side coverage. I "bumped" it forward enough to have the hood clear it. I planned on attaching "limb risers" to it and that took away the swing down option for me. So far no side damage issues.

My limb risers on our L5740 have been great. I'll bet you could fab up some "quick attach/detach" for your M; maybe notched to lock into place when you drop/raise your grill. Mine is made in pieces and has been modified a couple of times.

LAst year I dropped a log out of the grapple and the stock Kub grill guard was no match for it. It would not have been a match with expanded welded in. I'm designing a new grill guard cause Ill probly do it again.

I think I'll go metric wide tires when I replace. I'll post a thread whenever I do. :)

I don't have any info about radiator protection, but I can help with the searching of TBN. I find that doing a google search is a much more effective way to search for info on TBN than using the TBN search feature.
The search box at the top only searches TBN:
