R4047

I am looking around for a new tractor could be next summer before ready to buy though. I was looking at the Farmall 50 then found out they were the R4047 with red paint on them. I see the LS has a standard reverser tractor and the EZ tractor dealer couldn't explain the difference, but then again it was his son in from college when I stopped by. Could anyone explain it to me? I want a gear tractor for what I do.

EZ shift is basically a gear tractor with the ability to engage the clutch with a push button on gear selector. EZ also permits you to shift from forward to reverse without using the clutch. To be honest.. I rarely use the push button to engage the clutch. I do however shift from forward to reverse without clutching.. at low speed of course. If your speed is to fast you will hear a beep and the trans wont go into reverse until it senses the tractor is going slow enough. Hope this helps

So the ez is basically LS's version of the power reverser or hydro shuttle of I understand you correctly.
I see that you have an ez tractor what do you think of it.

There will be something I am sure of that, they may cost double and use twice the fuel. But there will still be tractors made and sold. And the more they cost and the more fuel they burn the more I get to write off in February and the less Uncle Sam gets to put in his pocket. So if you think about it then the government is as dumb as we all think they are.
Sorry but government oversight and regulation is a pet peive of mine.

The EZ shift is an elecrto-mechanical trans with no hydraulics involved. I guess its OK. When I ordered from my dealer, I ordered a gear tractor. He called back after I signed papers and said the factory was behind and wouldnt have a gear unit ready to ship for a month. I told him I could not wait that long and was going to cancel. He called the factory back then called me and offered the EZ model for same price as the gear unit. He threw in free delivery too. Personally.. I think I would have liked the hydro trans because I don't do any plowing or field prep now. Mostly mowing and loader work.

I will be doing lots of mowing and loader work too. As well as raking hay and taking care of the poultry barns and feeding hay. This will be my primary tractor for a couple of years then be looking for a 80-100 hp tractor. I don't think I want a hydro I know most of you love yours but I have always had gears and while I like a hydro on a mower I don't think it is for me on a tractor. Always used a reverser for loader work and if they position the lever right I can hit it without removing hand from steering wheel. As it beats a 8&2 by 10 times.

You might want to consider the Jinma or Foton tractors to save quite a buy of money. They specialize in gear tractors.

Much of the Korean tractors have a lot of Chinese parts in them so you might as well look at these brands as well.

Tom, I realize you're just trying to stir the pot, but where are you getting your "facts" that many (it's not "much" BTW) Korean tractors have a lot of Chinese parts?

I wouldn't normally ask, but in another thread, after you claimed another manufacturer was improperly designing their machines, and then flatly denied saying that (which anybody could see), it's sort of hard to take this statement at face value.
