I have noticed an increase in errant quote code showing up in a number of postings.

Is it the poster not editing properly, or some feature running amok?

This AM, I replied to a thread, and noticed it had two quoted posters, but only one end quote "[/quote]".

The text of course appeared for the second poster, within the reply something like "[blah:blah]".

I edited the post manually to remove the second errant poster.

What's up?

Just a test. It looks like your inclusion of the end quote code in quotes in the third line messed up your message.

Yep, you have to have matching open and close quotes or it messes up the formatting.
(Edited to remove the extra close quote tag)

Test, remove the 'square bracket, forward slash, QUOTE, square bracket' after "Steve"

I got that, but in various threads, I am seeing QUOTE show up with no end QUOTE. And this AM it happened to me when I was replying, so I take it must be user error on cut and paste that is doing it.

Yep, have to have both, or it messes up the formatting. Someone missed one when they cut/pasted/edited the message.

I quoted two people on another forum to basically "@ them" for a question I had in response to their replies on the thread and deleted the verbiage to shorten the thread. When I posted it their names were there but when I went back on later they were gone? Did I do something wrong?
