I'm a new member & it looks like I will have a lot of questions.
Why do you need the top link adapter on the quick hitch?
The quick hitch extends the length (or reach) of a top link beyond it's maximum reach.

I bought Pat's QH system. Only to discover it needed an extension, I'd need a different link, or swap to a hydraulic top link.

Pat PMed me. He offered up an extension piece, no charge.

I received it very quickly and it didn't fit (a tiny bit too wide).

Pat has absolutely refused to allow me to be an unhappy customer. He PMed back, saying for me to send specific dimensions and he's fab one up and get it out. I am doing that this week, as soon as I get home from travel (work).

They all work and have goods and bads. My point here is that Pat is diligent in making his customers happy. There lies my preference.

That Woods gadget sure looks nice. Thanks for the PDF.

This thread in no way, shape, or form means to lessen the utility or quality of the "Pat's" system. Quite the contrary, Pat, by the hundreds of accounts here, provides a quality system and goes above and beyond in service. And, important to me, his products are produced right here in the good old USA by American craftsmen.
I've been researching all the QH systems. The triangular Delta type, nice but expensive. The "I-Match" type and all it's clones.. Most Asian made..

I got a relatively good deal on the "made in Kansas" Land Pride and purchased it last week after seeing the I-Match work on a good buddy's new JD 3320....Back up, Lift up.. and GO.

Just a note here.... By local Kubota dealer loves the Pat's Easy Change system, and intends to use it on his own personal tractor...

Understand and in no way was I insinuating that as well. It's all good.

Thanks for the information.
Went to HF yesterday. They have their quick hitch on sale. They only had one left & it was out of the box. They gave it to me for $60.00. Was at TSC today & looked at theirs. Could not tell any difference. The HF model has 26 1/2 inch spacing. Looks like this difference spacing will be another thing to deal with.
Thanks again for the information.

Well done. That 26.5" spacing would work perfectly with my two implements but I am going to wait to see the TSC quick hitch due out in a few months. I was told it would sell for $100. If that hitch doesn't come along I will buy the HF one as I want the top link connection as well. I bought two tonging tongs from northern tool and want to use the quick hitch as part of my log transport system

After looking at the hitch, it would not be a problem to spread it to accept 27 1/2". It can be done without putting too much stress on the unit. If I need to do it later, I will.

Northland:

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for posting the quick-hitch specs. I've been looking for them for quite some time.

Cidertom:

JD's new quick-hitch does look slick. That would be so nice not to have to wrestle a PTO driveshaft onto the tractor's PTO. As much as I didn't want to, I ended up removing the PTO guard on the tractor as hooking up the bush hog PTO was a real pain due to the tractor's 3-point linkages, my quick-hitch, the bush-hog PTO driveshaft shields and the flip up tractor PTO shield. Even using a bungee cord to hold the shield up and out of the way didn't help. Maybe I'll get around to designing an easy on-easy off PTO guard.

'cept we're still not quite there.

Buhler (referenced above) says the ASAE standard is 27 1/4" between the lift arms.

While LSU AgCenter . Will an ASAE Standard Quick Hitch Fit? says "The distance between the inner portions of the two lower hitch pins must be between 26.81 and 26.94 inches." (and click on their photos if you go to that link.) That's about 3/8" slack, enough to interfere with the hole at the end of the pin where the clip goes through. The variance in vertical height is greater, just under 1/2".

I think you still have to try stuff and see what works. The 'standard' didn't solve all the problems.

I don't know if all of you reading this thread have seen the previous thread on these mysterious dimensions. Last fall this was discussed extensively:
http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachments/88921-harbor-freight-quick-hitch-more.html which includes my post on how to order the HF upper link option, two different sets of excellent photos by JEW, and my reference to using easily-removed pins for quickly adjusting the height of the upper hook.

I ended up buying the HF hitch last week. It was a bit too narrow for my implements. A bottle jack and 4x4 fixed that problem. I tried to hook up and noticed the top hook wouldn't quite work. I took 2 pieces of 1/4" flatbar torched a few holes to fit each side of the top pins on the quickhitch and the implement. Presto it is fixed and seems to work great. If you have the patience for a few mods the HF quickhitch is not a bad alternative for the price.
