Quick hitch vs pat's hitch

/ Quick hitch vs pat's hitch #101
Remember with the HF quick hitch the top hook needs extended so it will connect to the implements. Either it needs extended or the spacing between the two sides of the top link pin (on the implement) have to be wide enough so that the two sides of the quick hitch at the hook will fit in between the two sides on the implement, and the stationary pin may also have to be moved out closer to the edge. Man this is really hard to explain unless you are trying to connect up at that time and are seeing just what is being talked about. I did not envision the problem when I first bought the HF quick hitch and I took it back and told them it didn't work, and then like you I repurchased a different HF quick hitch on sale and also used a coupon, I just couldn't resist at that price of course I had seen the thread here on TBN that showed the hook being extended and it all made perfect sense (ding it clicked)!
This all probably doesn't make any sense to you right now but it should when you go to use the HF quick hitch next spring.:confused3::thumbsup:

I think I know what you're saying - there may not be enough clearance (width) in the implement frame so the metal cheeks of the HFQH fit between them?

Not very often but when I do need it, it is a whole lot easier and quicker to hook up than wrestling the QH off and back on. Note: It DOES require Hydraulic Top Link to get range of motion needed.

I remember your thread on the PHD. It would be nice to have one that is QH compatible. I have seen people several times say don't want a QH because it won't work with a post hole digger. I don't see it as a implement that is used that frequently and would keep me from buying a QH. I saw a post hole digger somewhere that was QH compatible.

Leave your QH on the last implement you use before the PHD then connect as normal.

Good idea.

Yea pretty much and that the bolt and spacer between those frame pieces is back to far. The easiest thing to do is to get a piece of steel and weld an extension on the QH hook then drill holes to match the existing holes, that is if you weld. It will work as is if the frame members are far enough apart and the spacer is far enough forward but it is kind of a pain. None of my equipment was QH compatible simply because it was old or I just didn't buy QH compatible implements because well just because. I had to adapt all of my implements some a little more than others to get them to work but so far it has been well worth the time invested and my back thanks me every time I hook up! I limped through with my hook problem till winter and am in the process of extending the hook and adapting my box blade while it's winter I am almost done but the wife has me redoing the kitchen presently so it is on hold. I couldn't believe the box blade needed adapted because it is only two years old but I didn't have the QH when I bought it so I didn't know any different or what to look for.

I went thru that 3 years ago. I was eager to tinker in the shop but no,,,,, had to stop for a kitchen remodel. Struggled with getting my head into that project but finally got it done, all the while thinnking about my shop projects on hold. In the end though it was worth it and am still getting dividends from a contented Wife. Life is good!!!

Yea I hear all that! Mine isn't that bad mostly removing wallpaper patch walls paint remove and replace the countertops and the floor, but that all takes time! If I could do it as fast as the wife's mind can do it I would have been on the first day!:D

This is the extension of the hook, not mine but the one I originally saw on TBN.
