Quick Attach Tree Spade

I wonder if a scrap propane tank could be cut down to make one. Anybody ever done this?

I thought about doing the same thing for a mini tree spade. I've had the tank for years. I'm just chicken to cut it.

I don't really understand. How would you cut a propane tank to make a tree spade? Slice it vertically and then weld it to a SSQA?

Think of a 2d drawing of a cylinder.

Stand it on end.

Draw a line from the top right corner down to the lower left corner.

Draw a corrresponding line on the other side.

Cut along the lines.

You'll have two scoops.

Determine the angle you want it mounted at, make some spacers, and weld it to a QA plate.

I'm sure it would work. The factory one weighs about 250 pounds and has a welded on cutting edge. I go in vertically just ahead of the ball and then slope it under as I drive toward the tree or shrub.

I've never bent it

Been planning on building one myself. Once I get some funds. Money’s short after purchasing tractor. Mine won’t be quite that big. Thinking around 2ft.
