I have done alot of reading on the topic TNT and still not sure on what I need and how to install it. I'm going to put it on a japan made tractor. First of all what size cyclinder for top and for tilt and does it matter on pressure. I want to use a toggle switch instead of control valve because I already have a toggle switch to control the 3ph and it works great. What do I need to buy and how do I install it.

WOW! Paintedreams, you are asking for a lot of information for the amount given. You also are already talking about a modification (switch?) that is pretty non-standard for TNT. Having made those disclaimers, /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I'll take a stab at answering a couple of your questions.

Cylinder size (two questions)
Pressure: The cylinder needs to be able to take the pressure of your hydraulic system. If you put a 1500 psi cylinder onto a 2500 psi system, it won't last long.

length/diameter: Measure your current toplink and sidelinks. That will tell you an approximate minimum and maximum length. The diameter of the cylinder will be determined by the amount of room you have, but normally these cylinders are between 2" and 3" in diameter.

Control valve:
You said you use an electrical switch for your 3PH, so I'm guessing that it controls a solenoid valve for lifting or dropping your 3PH. Do you have power beyond ports or additional hydraulic remotes on your tractor? This is an area you need to provide some more detail for anyone to give you good detailed advice. Saying a "japan made tractor" covers lots of tractors. Can you be specific as to brand? HP range? Pictures?

Good luck with your project. I'm sure you will find good info here and folks who will advise you on the very best way to proceed with your project. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I agree with Jinman. You have given us insufficient information to give you an intellignet answer. We would need to know the make of your tractor and any additional information you might have on its existing hydraulic setup.

As for the cylinders, a 2" bore cylinder rated for 2500 psi would be sufficient. The stroke and retracted length for a top link cylinder should correspond closely to what your top link currently is. CCM ( www.ccmachinery.com ) sells category 1 top links in several sizes that fit almost all tractors.

Keep us informed.

Well to begin with I have a Shibaura D28F with 34 Hp and a Allied loader. I don't have any pictures as of now but will soon. I was looking a 2" Dia. cyclinder for both top link and for side link. Now for the 3PH I have what is called a justimatic with a toggle switch that moves it up and down it has several wires running from the box but I can only see 4 wires that are used and they are connected to the selonoids that works control valve on the side of the tractor and its located on the rear right hand side. I'm not sure what the other wires are for. I will try to take some pictures and it may help to under stand better.

Have you checked in the Grey Market Tractors Forum? There are lots of Shibaura owners in that forum and several D28Fs. There is a discussion there about the 3PH switch and how it can be replaced with toggle switches. Some of those guys may even have added TNT to their tractors.

Of course, we may still be able to help you, but if you don't know about the other forum, you might just be missing a great resource. They might be able to give you experienced advice about the correct remote hydraulic hookups and availability of parts for your cylinders.

On my tractor, the toplink is a 2" cylinder and the tiltlink is a 3" cylinder. You'll want to make sure your sidelink/tiltlink has enough lift to far exceed the lift power of your 3PH. With implements bouncing around, the instantaneous shock loads can be very high. I'd suggest using a larger diameter cylinder, but others may have a better solution.

As a point of reference and 2" hydraulic cylinder with 1.125" rod will generate the force at 2500 lbs psi of Push/Pull 7,850 / 5,375 lbs. and at 3000 psi it will generate the force of Push/Pull 9425 / 6443 lbs.
A 3" hydraulic cylinder with 1.25" rod will generate the force at 2500 lbs psi of Push/pull 17,670 lb / 14,600 lbs.
Just how much force are your Cat 1 - 3 point systems going to accept before you reach their limits and something breaks? If your tractor has a correctly functioning hydraulic system the 2" cylinder should be plenty for most Cat 1 sidelink applications.
