So I am not really new here just new as a member been checking out this site for a couple of years now. I have a Yanmar 2210 that is totally awesome, never had any real bad problems with it. I am considering buying a Yanmar 2210D that is 4 wheel drive but it is a salvaged machine and does not run. Would any of the internal parts of the transmission and the final drive interchange with the 2wd model. It has the same size rims and tires that mine has so I was thinking about making my 2wd into a dually lol. Well let me know yalls thoughts. thanks

Why was the D model salvaged?

If it were the engine only, and all other related componets are in good working order, than you have a few options. I would jack up the salvaged 2210D, roll the rear tires and make sure the transmission, drive line and front axle engage and work properly. Try all gears and gear ranges, 2WD, 4WD and rear differential lock.

Rather than breaking down your tractor and installing the front axle, drive shaft and tube, some sheet metal to accommodate the slots for FWD and the complete transmission....it may be much quicker to swap engines to make sure the 'D' model performs as expected. It shouldn't take too long (a few hard hours) to determine which tractor is better operational wise.

Another option is to find (or rebuild) the 2T90 engine if it's possible.
