My JD 4320 with power reverser has to be in N to start. If not, nothing happens, I normally hear a click which is the fuel solenoid . If I do not hear this I know something is wrong. Check pto button, if on, nothing happens, E brake? Several safety switch mechinisims need to be set right befor it fires up. Please let us know. good luck

Did you put a volt meter on the battery? Occasionally new ones are dead. Also did you remove the plastic shipping covers from the terminals?
I don't have one but it could be that. No plastic terminals that I remember, but a great thought because I had the guy put in the plugs and of course it is already darker than a black goat at night. Thank you for the ideas!
The poor man's tester...

Grab a piece of wire with 2 bare ends and short across the battery. You should get a nice shower of sparks. ;If not then your battery is very dead.

This isn't quantitative, but it is reasonably qualitative.

You can also go from the battery positive to the solenoid ignition wire on your starter (small wire)..

I've had battery terminals that seemed tight enough, but just bad of a connection that they stop conducting as soon as the starter is activated. But, before that lights and etc would have worked.

And you've obviously looked at the safety system thats included on everything now? My kioti needs the seat filled, HST in neutral and the clutch depressed.

The seat switch went to the landfill first, next will be the gear selector when I get time. The clutch says does and controls all.

Equipment never had these safety features years ago. In the 60s, the owners manual gave instructions to adjust the points and some of them had user adjustable valves as well. Now car companies tell you to "NOT drink the battery acid".
No safety system exception (nothing on the seat, PTO engaged, in gear, etc.) should cause there to be no dash lights.

I bought a LS tractor knowing diddle squat about tractors, but man do I love it now. I put in a new battery for the winter, I got nothing. I checked the terminals, clean. I checked to make sure I didn't put it in backwards. I tightened it down with a torque wrench. I swore at it a lot. I am not getting lights, dashboard activity, not a sign of life. I know nothing of tractors but I am ok with cars. Does this have a starter solenoid? Is there some sort of reset button when you change the battery that I cannot find? Anyone have any ideas apart from taking it to a shop 200 miles away?

I suspect you might have inadvertently touched 12v to the frame (or inverted the terminals) which might have blown the main fuse.
If that is the case then it's an easy enough fix. Just replace the fuse. It would be either in fuse box, near battery or on the firewall .

1) You have a tractor that everything works. Starting, running, gauges, lights, everything.
2) One day it cranks over very slowly...then click, click, click.
3) You remove battery, install a new one
4) The tractor is dead...100% dead

Ask anyone with an I.Q. greater than a turnip what's wrong.
I mean no disrespect to anyone.
Putting the old battery back in will take you to step 2).
Yes all sorts of things, corrosion, bad connection, etc. can mimic a bad battery, but putting the old battery back at least take you to step 2). Otherwise something wrong with step 3).

Maybe he's moved on to a stuck drain plug or pallets in fields.
I have a feeling he is one of those one hit wonders that come in make a post and then you never see or hear from him again.
