I agree with joelD. Sparks be darned, lots of bar oil and lean on the saw Get it cut the way you want it to fall then quit about half way and lean on'em with the dozer

I have some good photos somewhwere from back in england in the 80's when we were clearing 4-5ft oak stumps that had been clear felled....popping them out with gelignite and clearing with a D8..I'll try and find them..??

We have a very soft spongy,fast growing tree in Va,do not know the name,but it is a nuisanse tree that is murder on chainsaw blades. You can see the sparks flly off the chain while cutting. Needless to say, the chain dulls quickly. My soil is sandy. I am thinking the tree is pulling some of the sand into the tree truck.
