thanks for the complements guys. the roller was actually 2 sections of 6" sch 80 pipe that I found in the scrap yard. Cut them to length then welded the to pecises together to make it about 5' 10". then I cut out the end plates from 3/8 plate and put the 1" solid shaft through it. But the shaft is not full lenght because that would cause it to bow in the middle so instead I made two parts for that look like this l----l- and they slide into each end. As far as the spikes on the roller they are 1/2 " round by 1 1/2" long. They are spaced 3" apart and are 8 around making for 192 very tedious welds.

That's some nice welding - and a lot of it too!

Did you fill the pipe to make it heavier or is it heavy enough as is?

I thought about filling the pipe with something but it weights around 100-120 now so the should be enough, although I would like to get some heavier springs to give it more down preasure.

Looks like a good building job to me. I've seen pulverizors on skid steers that had two rollers. But I guess you don't want to make all those extra welds for a second roller!

I've been to PEI and fondly remember "fries with the works". The works of course being the peas and such. Beautiful place.
