Looking
I recently bought (translate - I'm a newbie) a CK25HST (great machine by the way) and have yet to use my first PTO implement. My Tach has a PTO speed indicator (orange / red triangle). My question is do I ALWAYS want to run the tractor at this speed when using a PTO attachment? I obviously don't want to run faster but would I want to run slower? I have a 12" auger that I am going to use for some "hole" work and if the ground lets me, do I want to run slower?

thanks

Welcome to the pack KiotiWarhawk!

I would NOT run the PHD at full bore until you're sure you're comfortable with how it works. Run it for what the task at hand calls for.
I run my (9" x 42") at about 1,800-2,100 RPM. Never really had to run it full bore and I have clay, rocky ground. Hope this helps. Gerard

As Gerard said, not for the PHD. It is not necessary to run at full PTO speed for other applications such as light cutting with a mower. Don't however, go too low as it may stress the engine. For non-PTO operations, you can run it pretty much where you want as long as you're not lugging down the engine. John

I run my post hole digger at idle speed (easier to lift or stop if I snag a rock) to prevent breaking a shear bolts or getting the auger stuck in the ground.
I rev the engine once in a while to throw the dirt from the hole.
