Hey Folks,

I'm a new (used) tractor owner - B1700 with 1100 hours, FEL, blade, and bushhog. It's my first tractor and I'm enjoying it. That being said, I recently noticed that the rear PTO is rotating very slowly (maybe 1-2 rpm) while the pto is "disengaged". If I really push on the pto lever towards the disengage position, I can get the rear pto to stop rotating, but otherwise, it rotates slowly all the time. Of course, when I engage the pto, RPMs increase dramatically to what I presume is 540.

I'm guessing that this is not normal and that disengaged should mean 0 movement. Any thoughts?

Mine does that since I put a new pto clutch in it. Probably just needs to wear in. It wont hurt anything.

Just make sure you keep your pant legs and long sleeves away from the shaft while the tractor is running. I have seen many tractors do this with no apparent ill effects.

You could see if there is a linkage adjustment on the lever or the clutch pedal, other than that, not much you can do.
