PTO driven stump grinder

Please understand something and I'll only say it ONE time... Don't really care what grinder you have, you can use a shovel if you want...

I bought what I bought because I'm grinding stumps for customers and I don't want to spend all day ( and lose my butt) on grinding jobs because it takes X number of hours to remove them. I want to do it quick and make money and pay for the machine as expeditiously as possible. At a buck a base inch, I'm doing just fine, in fact, I'm getting more jobs than I really want presently. I seriously considered a Rayco or Carleton but the initial cost was too much and being retired, I need to watch my money and I never buy used equipment, especially equipment like a stump grinder and the SG25 was not a whole lot more than the Woodland Mills unit anyway. Of course you do need something larger than a compact tractor to run one and you need remotes as well. Neither are an issue with me.

Put the unit on the Gooseneck and go grind.

Hello everyone:

I am in need of a PTO driven stump grinder.

My tractor is a Mahindra 5155 (55 hp) so that gives an idea of what it can handle.

This is new to me, so any suggestion is completely appreciated.

Before you go that route, does your tractor have a hydro-drive feature or is it standard gear transmission? You really need the hydro drive to 'finely' control how slow you move forward and backwards with some grinders. Something to think about.

I have a Miller PTO driven stump grinder that I’m very happy with. It was built to order for me in 2014 and is controlled with three toggle switches in a handheld box. As far as I know, it’s the only one of its kind. Jeff Miller sold the company soon after building my stump grinder and I’ve heard it’s changed hands a time or two since.

They show a GR15, an SSG 20 and the SSG 25. There is no SG 25 listed. The SSG 25 is designed to mount to the front of a Compact Track Loader (CTL).

So, now you can see my reason for asking if you had a link.

I wish people would STOP saying that, as it's just NOT true!

IF you have a gear drive tranny and creep gears your tractor will work just fine with a stump grinder.

My tractor does NOT have the whiner tranny, it is gear drive with the creep option.

Mine is the Mahindra 5155... it has 12F and 12R with the shuttle. Low, Med and High. Four gears in each. I think it would run a grinder find... we shall see.

Some folks seem to get very opinionated online, and very grouchy. I am a sponge, I learn from everyone... I appreciate your input Sir. Well said, from your own experience. I think you.

IF your Mahindra doesn't have the creep gear option, I don't think you will want to run a grinder with your tractor, unless you want to do a lot of clutch slipping.

No doubt with creepers or maybe a 12x12 one could use the fixed stump grinders. Unfortunately, the manufacturers state the HST only narrative, likely because they don't want to get into the different transmission types where they would work. I have seen several YouTubes running them with manual transmissions, as well as your experience here.
Did I mention that I really like my Baumalight fixed grinder?

As far as opinions and temperment, take what you need and leave the rest. Some people cannot comprehend that everyone's needs and equipment are different, and simply must declare their stuff is the best, and everyone else has useless toys.

ok for smaller stumps but not larger ones. I need some thing with balls.

BS, I ground a 31"(at ground level) last Saturday.
The carbide teeth have been reground every year for the last 5 years locally, unlike your 3 times and you replace them teeth.
