I've been operating my new 4310 in a fairly dusty environment. I was wondering if any of you know of anyone who offers a protective cover for the PTO shaft? Maybe an elastomer device that conforms to the shaft (I know what some of you might be thinking about now as a suggestion, but I'd rather use something other than that!)

Rear PTO or Mid PTO?
There is a metal cover that fits on the Mid PTO stub, and am not sure if it also fits on the rear stub.

I'm not sure how dust would be a problem for the PTO stub?

Dust can be cleaned off along with the surrounding area whenever it builds up enough to need cleaning, I'd think.

A Plastic cover came with my tractor. It fits the PTO shaft exactly as you have described. I generally leave it on the shaft when the pto is not used. Your dealer probably has some laying around that they'd give you.
