PT-422 on eBay

/ PT-422 on eBay #2
I've been lurking on this forum for ~2 years to get the feel of what to expect as a PT owner. I just got the 422 for sale on Ebay and will pick up sometime next week, so I hope all will have patience with my newbie questions for a while. Guess I better go tell my wife I just bought a tractor...

That's a pretty good price for that package... about 40% of new, for a better machine, IMO. The new ones only have one steering cylinder instead of two, like this one...

BTW -- welcome to the "other side"...

JStricker,
Congratulations I followed that for quite awhile, I wish you luck and I hope you will be as happy as myself with my 422, the part which really pleased me was that Bidder no 1 was successful, so many times I see some cut throat come in at the last few seconds and make a steal.
By the way where are you located?
Bill

Nice buy congrats, hope to see your adventures on this fourm. Take lots of pictures. The wife will start finding many uses for your PT after she gets used to having it around. ;)

Thanks for all the encouragement. I live on 20 sloped acres in Soddy-Daisy TN on the side of Mobray Mountain, about 15 miles north of Chattanooga. When I saw Kent T's post that there was a PT on Ebay, I jumped. My "first" projects are moving some very large rocks in the back "yard" with the forks, mowing the front lawn in less than 3 hours (we only had a push mower), moving several piles of mulch and leaves with the bucket, and brush cutting. My future plans are to purchase a mini hoe to dig out a foundation for a greenhouse, fix a 7 ft drop-off for either a retaining wall or massive vegetation planting, re-do some of our drainage ditches, and dig a pond. I want the boom pole brush cutter for some of my slopes, a stump grinder, one of the trenchers for a sprinkler system, an auger for post hole digging (with the cement mixer to help, of course), and the rotary broom to clean our road in the Fall.

As I posted earlier, I've been thinking about this for a long, long time!

Any ideas on where to find ROPS for the 422? My slopes can be very steep, and I have very little land that is flat. Attaching ROPS is gonna be a must.

Know where Soddy-Daisy is, for sure... my property is in Blount County, near Townsend -- actually in Walland, but if you haven't been there, and paying attention, you'd never know where that is... There's several other PT owners in East Tennessee, as I recall.

Last I heard, the factory ROPS/FOPS was $500 and it bolts right on to your PT-422. IMO, that would be money well spent... especially since it sounds like a trip to Tazewell for additional attachments is in your near future.... :D

I bought one from PT for my 422, it's the same as they put on the 425. I believe it was $500 and bolted right up. So far i haven't tested roll over protection yet, but have had some large limbs come down on the top.

Congratulations!

I got my 422 off of ebay also...and I love it. It came with a new trailer, finish mower and bucket.

I would love to have a cement mixer and forks, like I saw in your pics.

Again, congratulations and welcome.

Congratulations on your purchase. You are going to love that machine. I have a PT425 and wonder how I ever got along without it. I am located over in Cleveland TN.

Hey ldabe,

How far from Marlette do you live?

Marlette is about 70 miles N. of Detroit.

I am about 60 miles S. of Detroit.

So about 130 miles (as the crow flies) away.

Marlette is about in the middle of the thumb.

Nice country though, been up there many times.

I see your from Washington State. I almost became a Police Officer in Olympia, but then went to Oklahoma instead. (Had a brother in-law in Okla., with my wifes sister, yet both her and her sister spent quite a few years of their childhood in Olympia, WA.)
Small world ;~)
