Tractor
Kubota BX24, Case 580 Super L
Hey group. In the past, when I've transported tractors (small garden tractors weighing about 1000 pounds), I've used nylon ratchet straps. I'd use four, and just attach one at each corner of the tractor. I'd like to know that if I smash into a tree somewhere that the tractor will not come flying into my truck and make me die. Additionally, now that I have a heavier tractor (Kubota BX24), I want to make sure that I am properly equipped. I imagine that I need a chain solution, yes? Can anyone give advice as to what type of chains and ratcheting mechanisms to use?

Thank you

Be safe, use grade 70 chains and ratchet type binders. 5/16" would be plenty strong enough for your tractor. 4 chains, one at each corner. If you have a loader, it should be chained down as well.

Chains for anything with rubber tires. Thanks KEN!
Straps for anything else.

go to your local truck stop, and in their small stores they always have on hand the DOT booklets, In there, it not only tells you what the law is , they have pictures of how to do it. As you were told, grade 70's at a minimum.

Thanks for the feedback. Great idea about the DOT booklets at a truck stop.

Call or email you local Highway Patrol station; ask for the commercial division. The Sacramento office of CHP was very helpful in my case.

It varies state to state, so get the specifics for the areas you will tow in.
