Propane/Wood pellets !!

We heat our entire house with wood pellets (about 3 ton a year)we just bought 4 tons of wood pellets for $177 a ton.I called our propane company for this years price on propane $2.29 gal.verses last years price of $1.49,I am sure glad we only use one tank of propane a year.coobie

Thats a darn good price for pellets !!! There is a stove store around here thats offering pellets at $200 or no more than $200 a ton if you buy the stove from them !

Im still burning wood but the prices you stated are excellent !

After I bought mine(pittsford feed mill,Pittsford Mi.) there was a local guy here who sells pellet & wood stoves(story stone company,Jackson Mi.) offering a deal if you bought pellets before July 31 they were $169 per ton.Oh well I was very happy for $177 a ton.coobie

Propane in our area is 2.75 per gallon and pellets have never exceeded 200$ per ton. Oil, well oil, is expensive everywhere.

I was shopping for a new pellet stove today, prices sure have gone up.
I got a quote for a Harman P61A for over $3100, picked up. They said prices are going up 1 august, order now.

With heating oil prices through the roof I anticipate a run on stoves and pellets this year.

Maryland Dealer I was looking at said Quadrafire stoves are going up around 15% next month, Harman also going up soon (they are now owned by the same company).

He had plenty of pellets now, but said they also go up next month due to shipping costs. right now his were at $245/ton or $235/ton if 3 or more.
I bought a ton Sunday at tractor supply for $240.

I plan on adding a 2nd pellet stove this year, i usually burn 1.3 tons/yr, so I want to have at least 3 tons on hand this yr.

Over the last 6 yrs of burning pellets and oil, I have reduced my oil usage an average of 98 gallons per yr from the previous 5 yrs before that when I only used oil. with the cost of the stove and the pellets, I have now about broke even over those 6 yrs. with the huge increase in oil cost now, I expect a quicker payback for the new pellet stove. I hope so, because it is costing more than double the last one.

I went up to south PA tonight and got 2 tons of pellets for $219/ton, so I now have my 3 tons. just need my 2nd pellet stove, and a way to get some of the heat to the upstairs.
